    Heyyo ADV.

Im usually hiding out in the Airheads section on ADV. I will find my self going west later this year and would love to rent a motorcycle while out there. I can not bring myself to do the Harley rental- seems like way too much money for a bike I really dont wanna ride..

Anyone have any other ideas or companies that rent a bike that wont require selling a kidney?

    Thanks!
    Tom

Lots of people like Doublju (sp?) in San Francisco. I think they do BMW bikes.

Gold Country Adventure Cycles just opened up in Sonora (near Yosemite) too. I guess they have been doing tours in my area, but recently opened a store with gear, rental bikes (F800GS, 1190ADV, KLR650), and tours. I went in to talk to them, and met the owner: nice guy.

Where in the west? Eagle Rider does rent some Honda models in certain areas and many BMW dealers also rent bikes, but not everywhere.

These guys are great AND they have "transporter specials:" http://www.motoquest.com/motorcycle-rental/ I've enjoyed hanging out and riding with their Anchorage Alaska employees thru the years.

To the op: I see you're in Rockville, MD. I went to bike night at the Barnes & Noble there years ago on my Ducati and by chance met a young guy on a 749 who's aunt I know up here in AK. Also had fun riding thru the twisties of Catoctin Mt Park. I was down there for the grand opening of the Smithsonian For Native Americans. Good times.

Good luck and have fun, Mark H.

I rented from Jackson Wy place.

Nice guys, but messed up our reservation. Made it better by giving a very good deal on the f800gs we rented in place of a 1200. The had double booked at 1200.

So we had 1 of each.

Both good bikes, and gs e us a lift to the airport when we were done.

Eagle Rider will rent large touring bikes....Goldwing, BMW 1600LT, HD.....in Phoenix. I have used ER a couple of times in other cities and they have always been easy to deal with.

AZride.com has a whole fleet of different bikes....BMW, Honda, Kaw, Yam, etc...available for rental. Haven't used them, but looks worth checking out.

Just do a simple google search on motorcycle rentals in your chosen city and you are sure to come up with many options

There's a place near San Diego that rents Husqvarna Dual Sports. They also do off road trips from the area to Vegas. Can;t remember the name thought

www.rentaducati.com also rents from San Diego and orange county.

This place rents Honda MX bikes, DZR 400s and KTM 450s:

I know for a while is a very tough to find a rental place in CA. I'm guessing the insurance requirements have opened up, which is nice. Great riding out there.
