Hi, just getting set up and prepared to fly to Santiago Chile on March 5 then fly on to Punta Arenas on the 6th. The plan is to meet up with the other 5 riders and the guide on the 8th and ride to Tierra del Fuego. These first few posts are just to get the hang of posting pictures and reports. Hopefully by the time I actually fly out I'll know what I'm doing.

    Hi Mike,

Look forward to your pics and stories. Two weeks goes by in a hurry. You'll be flying south before you know it. Best luck.

    Kindest regards,
    John Downs

[IMG] [IMG] This has been my trusty ride for the last 12 years. I have just purchased a 2012 BMW 1200GS.

    Hi Mike,

I love a good Fly-N-Ride! It would be interesting to hear how long you plan to be on the bike, your route, etc.

I hope you have an amazing trip,

    .

After flying into Punta Arenas, Chile on the 6th the plan is to ride from Punta Arenas on the 8th, the southern most city in SA to Ushuaia, Argentina the southern most town in SA and back by the 12th to begin the 11 day (9 riding) north to Osorno about 1600 miles. Will try to keep updated on the progress and events of the day. :waveWill rent BMW's down there. I'm planning on riding a 650.

This is what my new ride looks like. Won't get a chance to ride it till the weather breaks here in WI. Too much snow and salt on the roads.[IMG][IMG]

Hi Poolman, checked out your ride report from Peru. Very nice. Looked like you stayed in the same place as my friends Tucker's did in Dec. with the 220v., very risky, hook up of the shower heater. How cool. I think they had the same young fellow guarding their bikes. :clap
Won't know what route we are taking until I get down there as I will be going with a group through Adventure Riders and Eric will be the guide and he has all that information which he will share with us when we get down there. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, it's in real good shape and never had any problems with it. I am the 2nd owner have had it for 12 years. Will hold on to it for awhile yet. It will be fun to compare the ride on that to the 1200 GS.

When I went from my FXRS to a 1100rt the hardest thing to get used to was the rpm differance. 3000 rpms was what my Harley liked but that is lugging the poor Beemer .

The three 4 letter words that have been very much in the daily forecast are: SNOW, ZERO & COLD....:puke1. No problem though, next week at this time I'll be on my way to Chile; HOT, SUN and FUN. :clap
