    Thanks Cuttle.
The Darth Peach introduced me to so many possibilities for perspective. I'm a monkey see monkey do photographer. :lol3
I like your thread. Among others, it is a friendly place to go to enjoy a cool slice of life. Thanks for the entertainment. :deal
I'll soon pay up and look fwd to meeting you and your hubby at Rick's RDV. Really cool the way you took Rick's legacy and kept it alive. :bow

    Thanks Mickey.
yup new scorpion 900. Pretty nice first impressions. I feel like a fighter pilot with it on!! :lol3 I needed a helmet for winter. my xd just really doesn't cut it. Best thing so far is that there is no buffeting. Way better than my xd even with the bill taken off.
If anyone is interested in these helmets, get a size up!!! I got the 3XL and it is tight on my 2XL head. It will break in and the tightness will go away. Also has an air pump to pump up the cheek pads and neck roll.

I have been in that tunnel.. For me the best time is at 2 am....

I grew up by the beach.. And being a sea goat .. As soon as I'm by a beach I have to get in up to my knees...

I'll never live by a beach again...
My love for mountains is greater.. :nod
The high desert is a very close second :nod

I have lived around quite a bit including PA NJ AZ GA MD and a good deal of time in NC.
My folks had taken me to the beach when I was a little guy but never as a teenager.
What started a life long attachment to the beach and a desire to go back again and agian was: In 1976 me and 3 friends went to Frisco on the Outer Banks of NC. (including Bill who you met earlier in this thread in my ride report to the Divide). I walked out onto the beach, in the early hours of the morning, with a quart of beer in my hand and was completely blown away. A sublime moment that I have been trying to recapture every year since. I've never quite succeeded, but got damn close. :freaky

This trip that I'm documenting here was more somber. I was there to show my respects as we committed the ashes of my friends Mom to the sea in a special location. She was a second Mom to me. She loaned us her car to make the trip to Hatteras 37 years ago. RIP MOM:cry

Almost 40 years, and me and those 3 guys are still family. The kind of Family you choose!! Love you guys.

    Here you go Sir. :D
    Copied from the first post:
I've had a number of inquires about my gear, bike, cameras, gps farkles etc... so I'm going to update this first post with all that stuff. I'll be finished editing in a few days.

    Cameras:
Over the years i have had a mess of cameras, and I am tough on cameras.... They often commit suicide rather than be abused by me ever again.
I have used several Canon slrs and pas(point and shoot) cameras. Currently I use a Canon (sx230hs) pas. It has been a good camera and lasted longer than any other Canon pas, although there are times when it fails completely to take pictures. It has a problem with the plastic lens door opening all the way, and it no longer will zoom, which SUX because the 14X optical zoom was a selling point.
I also have a Nikon coolpix s3100 pas that has outlasted ANY pas camera that I have owned. I've had that for 18 months!!!! It doesn't function properly either... I broke the LCD a few days after i got it so I can't change the settings or preview a shot...... I am lucky as shizzle that the setting it was on when I busted the lcd is a good sorta universal auto setting. For the CDR ride I took JaxWifes S3100 which functions perfectly (because she is not tough on stuff) .
I use her Nikon D40x when i get a chance, it's a wonderful camera, but I'm afraid I would ruin an slr within 30 seconds of owning one.
Cameras past, mostly Canon pas, but I've had a few others. Olympus, Kodak, Sony ... all dead or living with a nice person who found them after they fell off my bike (never to be found by me)

He (DesertDave) not only uses a nice camera/lens, he knows how to use it and process the images later. ALL my photos to date are on one automatic setting or another. :lol2 I have put my camera on manual by mistake a coupla times, taking photos that I would never be able to recreate!!! :D It's not easy being mediocre!!! LOL
