So Mister T, is the new mudderrator. When i see a topics with so many, of these , that i have to guess is there something between the lines. Need to read twice, does he really mean it. Or must I skip that. What is important, what is not. Is the expression always used right? Could the mod give attention to that? Or is it, it is not my daily language.
Round of applause for the new mods stepping up to moderate the madness and the mods who have been in the thick of it for years, and to Baldy & crew of course and the all the amazing contributors, trackers etc.
Yep, thanks in advance for keeping the place organized. Also, I know it's impossible to control, but if you could keep this "internationally rally oriented" it would be great. Though I am afraid that with all the R. Gordon infatuation and with J Christ himself competing on a Honda the F5reHose may look more and more like we're following Baja 8K
I'm Merican as the next and a fan of both JC and RG but Dakar is the showcase of international talent. For me, the triumphs and tribulations of the "lesser" competitors makes for a truly magical event.
... we need one of THESE: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=131 ticking away at the top of each page, so that the global entity that is the f5 consciousness are in synch and know what time the stages and rally is keeping... REGARDLESS of where in the worlds many time zones they live or what they are doing... In january there is only ONE time zone... the DAKAR ZONE. This should many of the numerous, "hey... what time are they starting... I thought they started at 06:00 pacific central... no was that 08:15 standard New York time... hey... what are you doing up at midnight in Mogadishu...? have they started yet?" :huh type of posts. If f5mods flood or PackMule could give this their attention (or some other helpful mod soul)... I am still on my mod waterwings and don't want to f5¤ck something up! Troy Team f5ool.
+ LIVE TV start program in the different countries Tried to search for online self to install EPG/GUI so that you can get only the the programms with Dakar inside. http://tvprofil.net/xmltv/ but do not have ............ I saw there are program website with gui that give the time in my local time.
I added Floods global time code to the main threads opening post. Perhaps now just some friendly reminders of where to check start times and how to reference the local time.

i'll be around to help moderate & update the cliff notes thread again this year. i talked to baldy / ops to make sure the servers are ready to handle the traffic that the F5rehose spawns, no word yet if anything on the forum will have to be disabled to handle the traffic load - i'll ask again in a minute and get back to everyone.
Thanks again Kaia! I'll be around too as much as I can although most of my interaction will be through the nights (East Coast time). Work (sucks), three very expensive consultants that I babysit, and a special stage like commute will preclude me from devoting too much time during the 6:30am to 7pm time frame but I will pop in and try not to mess too much up as frequently as I can.
spoke with ops - they're expecting the traffic and will take similar measures to what they did last year (disabling uploading photos, whatnot)... they ARE planning an upgrade to a more scalable backend system, but were unable to complete the move before the race this year. the database is usually the bottleneck, and will continue to be so until the upgrade happens (once dakar F5 madness settles down). thanks as usual to Baldy and the SmugMug ops team for keeping us online during our favorite time of year!
