just cant get this outta me head
a few years back, some clowns set a record for postie bikes from byron bay to steep point wa in 12 and a half days, but, they made a few navigational errors and also were drugged by a stranger with hallucinagenic lsd laced scones
I reckon it could be done in 10 days
anyone else wanna have a go?

a mate in truck comes over here and back once a month from geraldton
probably 3/400 bucks to freight over and you can ride home
    ditto for east coasters

the route is tar from byron to bourke, then up to the corner, down to lyndhurst, up to will crk, out to coober pedy, tar to the rock, on to warburton, gunbarrel... maybe skip the gunbarrel this time as there would be heaps of carnage on it,
leonora, north to meeka , mnt gould and out to the coast via byro station , overlander rdhouse and steep point
    dead farkin easy!

Skip the Gunbarrell because there would be carnage...

Hang on, last time I looked this was ADVENTUREbikerider.com, not Grandma Clampetts crochet for beginners........

Sounds like the EXACT reason to tackle the Gunbarrel.

I'm keen. The biggest barrier will be the mindset, not the terrain.

i'm more worried about the machinery than the mindset on the gunbarrel

and how to recover bikes and bodies if you cant take trailers in there
we've done it before but we were lucky
i guess if bikes failed, they'd just have to be left out there
we were going to do the red centre and may still do it but nuthins set
if we did this, itd bejuly augustish
the days would be a bit short but you'd be riding with the sun and the earths rotation, thereby making your days longer
    daylight saving, postie style

Ummm...you'd be riding opposite to the earth's rotation I think.

The net outcome could be that the massed traction of all those posties headed west would make the earth rotate faster, thereby making the days even shorter.

    Careful consideration is called for...:deal
