Garmin stopped making the BEST GPS system ever made, hands down, about five years ago. The 276/376/478 series is hands down the best GPS system ever made for dirt bikes. It has the largest screen, is virtually bomb proof, doesn't have any of that lame touch-screen crap.

You can't even touch an 8 year old unit for less than $600 these days.

I have one and love it! Everyone I know that has one or has had one, swears by them, as do I.

Let's petition Garmin to bring it back with some changes.

    Google Earth Sat imagery
    Track your friend uplink :clap
Blue Tooth communications with fellow riders

    What are everyone's thoughts here?

If you've never owned one, you just don't know. If you have, I know you'll agree.

A friend of mine uses the 376c and loves it, swears by it. I'm currently using the Garmin 650t with 24k west topo, and i like it it's touch screen friendly with gloves on.

People voted with their wallets when the devices were available. The fact that they aren't available any more pretty much tells you how the voting went :deal

Actually, for yachts, YES. But for m/c's, not true. I spoke to a developer for Garmin in Puerto Vallarta in 2006 at a yacht show and he told me that the yachting community wanted a touch screen. Since then, the M/C community has started really loading up on GPS's, making us one of the largest purchasers of GPS's behind trkkers and backpackers.

So, if the M/C community made it clear what they wanted, it might happen. More people can afford an M/C than a yacht afterall, which makes for more purchasers. :deal

I've had my 276c since it was new..still going strong. I'd buy another, but would like to see the buttons moved to the left side of the unit to make it easier to operate while keeping a hand on the throttle. I'd also like to see it come with an SD card slot for loading maps and routes rather than that proprietary POS that it originally came with.

    Which one has Sirius radio?

When I'm lost, out in the middle of nowhere, trying to figure out how to use the damned GPS I want to listen to some tunes.

I also like the turn-by-turn audible navigation feature.

Can we also petition Volkswagen to bring back the oval window bugs? Also can we bring back voltron? Jolt cola would prob be popular also. Sorry for the rant. But it's annoying riding with someone who check their gps every hslf mile.

My Zumo 665 works just fine, provided you have a track in it that doesn't run you off of a cliff. :D

The bigger touch screen was better than the little 276 screen, plus the Zumo processes much faster. The 276 couldn't keep up with my slow ass, and I was last.

Aside from that, I'd like to see a little more functionality in them and have a waterproof unit for $200 or less.

I have a waterproof unit and it didn't cost anything. Sorry to hear you didn't come equipped likewise.

Come on Tim, I don't know a single person that can outride the speed of a 276, unless they're running below 80feet perspective and on a dry lake running ATGATT.

And it wasn't a cliff. It was a steep climb in reverse.

It wouldn't keep up with a twitching unconscious dude snoring face-down in the dirt?

If my 60CSx had a bigger screen, maybe I would've spent less time looking for the track & more time watching where I was going.

    Fuck you, Rob.
