I think it's likely a good thing to petition, although the corn and ethanol lobby seems to be quite strong. Not a good reason to accept it, though. A better thing might be to oppose the presence of lobbyists and corporate money in politics. Then, a lot of shit that isn't good would go away. This might belong in the politics forum?

My interest in keeping pure gas available is this......

I am fortunate enough to have a gas station two blocks from my house has ethanol free fuel which is the only thing I use now (unless I'm on a ride and can't help it). Extremely fortunate since I did not have this option in Charleston, SC.

I signed the petition, but what does Brazil do ? Isn't all their gas 100% ethanol.

Nobody tried biodiesel? guess it would take some major remapping

No, besides Diesel we have 2 choices of fuel at fill-up stations
1- Alcohol
2- Gasoline (contains 25% ethanol)
3- (What ?! You said 2 above!!!) Some stations have a pure gasoline option, but it is rare! Very rare! Usually stations in rich neighborhoods for folks with expensive equipment! The Brazilian national oil producer (PETROBRAS) is the only one I know of. They sell a gasoline called "podium", which is allegedly the "good gas"!

+1 It's amazing the amount of residue Ethanol leaves behind.

Ethanol, dries clean. It's not ethanol that does that. It's something in the fuel or additives that does that, maybe because someone took the cheap option and used something that was not suitable. There are another 166 odd chemicals in what most people call "pure fuel".

Used to see that kind of thing a lot before ethanol was a twinkle in the polies eyes.

We cleaned it off and never went to that servo again. Well until we forgot or they changed hands or something.

Ethanol, (at least in the US) is far more energy intensive and generates more greenhouse gasses than gasoline. If you are looking to decrease GHG, than LNG or CNG (not readily available in motorcycles yet) are the best bet. As far as motocycles go, if this is your primary concern, a KTM twin is probably not your best bet. Lots of small thumpers out there that will get 65 mpg+, which will be a far more substantial reduction in emmissions than using any particular fuel source.

Ethanol is also very expensive in the US right now due to poor corn crops, (which of course is also driving the food costs up).
