For those of you just joining us, Welcome to the Detroit Greetings thread.

This thread was created by a bunch of guys who wanted to get together and ride. It began in 2004 and died when the ADVrider server crashed and the original thread was erased.

You are now reading the continuation of that original thread.

Don't be shy go to the last page and introduce yourself all are welcome and let's ride!

Gee, I never realized how much crap I have contributed to that thread. It would be a shame to lose it.

I tried to look up my past posts and not one Detroit greeting post shows up.:eek1

There seems to be a glitch in the matrix right now. This may be an example of why we worry about imbedding crap in posts. We have our best minds working on the problem. In other words, I'm staying away from this as far as possible.

I haven't heard back from the boss yet, but I'm 99.999999% sure that the old thread is history. It's sad, but I suspect the time to restore, to include possible down time for the site, would be to much of a burden. If I hear anything back that is different, I will pass it on.

JP and I checked out the new GS 800 yesterday. I like it.

It looked to me like it has a long wheelbase, so i checked it out. It does, the 800 has a 62" wheelbase, 3 more inches than a 1200 GS.

I don't know whether that's good or bad, it just looked odd to me.

It didn't feel any heavier than my 640 Adventure and the seat/riding position is very nice. Also, the exhaust note is very sweet. It has a raspy bark to it.

I'm starting to get excited about this new bike . .

So why did this happen? Any chance of boosting my post number back up to 300 at least. I think I had 500 something.
