Having issues installing a Moose Expedition Rear Rack on my XR650L, and I'm wondering if anybody has experience installing this rack. Here's some pictures to illustrate the problem here. The rack in question: Moose Expedition M85-100, meant apparently for the XR650L. Here's the problem: The support frame under the fender does not match up with the mount holes it should! (which are the blinker mounting holes) Another picture to illustrate the issue. The circle I drew in shows where it should line up. Plus, they didn't even seem to include hardware long enough to mount into the blinker holes. Has anybody used this rack and have some wisdom from me? I'm going to call and try and figure this out with the company on Monday, but I got a trip to do soon and I want this to work! Thanks for any assistance offered.
Hey Adam, It's Jake, I've got an idea that might work if you are up for it. You could drill a hole through the subrame and mounting bracket for the rack straight through where they intersect, buy some long enough bolts to go through the subframe tube and bracket and try to make that work? Otherwise you could bring it to somebody with some welding skiilz who could just chop the part hanging too low and weld that intersection??
I am dealing with this exact problem with a rack I received for Christmas. Very frustrating! How did you end up resolving this? I am calling the company tomorrow, but was hoping to get a little user insight. Thanks, JP
I just got off the phone with support at Moose Racing and they told me that the instructions are actually incorrect. The instructions say to mount the "Under Fender Support" with the legs facing toward the rear of the bike. In reality they are supposed to point toward the front of the bike. I will have a look when I get home, but the gentleman I talked to was confident that this would solve the problem. Thumbs up for having a human being working customer service. Thumbs down for bad instructions! He did mention they are in the process of updating the directions. Cheers, JP
