the clutch line on my 950 run through a triangular bit of plastic just behind the steer tube
is there a reason i should not route it above this and then come back along the normal route
my issue with running it through the plastic is that it is held in place by the radiator and it looks like i will have to take both tanks off and let the rad hang to move this bit of plastic

My clutch hose is routed through the same plastic gizmo as the brake hose, and the choke cable. It is on the front of the top triple clamp.

I don't see anything like that on mine, but it is a very early model. I think the later models had some plastic parts in that area that mine does not.

    Sorry I couldn't help.

The 950's just ran them down the inside of the frame, sort of in where that plastic bit sits and then down the side of the airbox.

I haven't paid that much attention to the routing on my 990. But either way as long as you don't pinch it, let it come into contact with something that will allow it to melt or have rub thorugh, I can't see that it would make any difference how it is routed.

Yes, you need to remove the mounting bolts from the radiator to get that plastic triangle piece out of the frame section just aft of the steer tube. From the KTM factory the clutch hose is routed through there and by the plastic insert, its a tight fit on the hose.

Keep in mind that this triangle part did not show up until 2005 if I recall correctly... the early bikes did not have it... and that whole area behind the steering tube would get packed with road debris.

Do you think this would be a good retrofit?

and ran the new one above the little plastic bit...
in hindsight i guess i could have loosened the other tank and the radiator
but i kept thinking that i was going to have to drop both tanks and looked for another way to route it

I can't see the point - my '04 never collected road debris in that area.

    Thanks.

Though it hasn't been a big problem, some mud has collected there, and is annoying.
