Hello boys. I got myself one kick ass good looking HP2 but the headlight beam is piss poor. Has any one fitted a H4 xenon light to the standard headlight, and did it improve the light? I had a look at some other options but most involve adding an additional light. The way I see it, it's going to break or rattle lose with time and falls. The TT option is stupidly expensive and not an option. Any advice?
Get the euro lens assembly if you want to stay with the stock light housing. It has better optics than the US version. You could do the HID conversion to that housing also. The Baja Designs 6" HID Pre Runner light can be installed to the stock mounting points with a bit of work. Lots of light output but you give up hi/low.
Thanks MJS, do you have link to the Euro lens setup? The 6" Baja is too big, I had look at it and do not really like it.

Euro lens is also shit. I have installed a Xenon in place of the bulb but the target is more to be seen by others durind day than for a good night lighting. 8000 K I have added a single Touratech Xenon in parallel on high beam, great result.
IMO, You'll get better results with a 4500K or 5000K lamp. Doesn't change the optics but gives better color rendition of the warmer colors.

thank you Marc for the reply, it seems like a good way to go. I want to try and keep the bike as is, the Baja light is just to big for me. What other aftermarket xenon's are available other than the TT option? It's hellish expensive that light. Oldfool, the blue light I have tried and it's still just 55w and not much better, imho.
There's plenty of more or less similar aftermarket H4 HID replacement bulb+ballast kits. I went with something very similar to GSMarc's setup, but without the Touratech add-on. I think my main beam is around 4500k. It lights things up quite well. Not a perfect beam distribution but it's a big improvement over stock. I find the H4 HID kits in the HP2 reflector tends to be a bit uneven, skewed towards focusing the light up high. So you have to adjust the height of the lamp quite carefully for it to be a good fit. Putting a passenger on the back throws most of the light onto oncoming traffic. I strapped the ballast onto the left side of the fuel tank, just behind the radiator. That seems to cause no electrical problems.

you need a proper HID housing to get the best out of it.Make sure the existing housing is clean(inside and out) and get a PLUS rated H4 bulb is prolly going to be your best bet with the std housing

JJ, Appears to be a fine unit, if a little sinister! The high/ low beam is key. If it mounts well, I'd say it's a winner.
I see the bikes and quads on the Dakar uses something that resembles this shape and layout. Their lights looks like a LED setup though. Anybody know what they are using?
