Bloody finally got the forks back from DAS ,only took 4 months to have them
    re-valved , sprung , shortened & travel reduced , Couldn't see a lot of point haveing
forks with 300mm of travel on a bike with 250mm of ground clearance...
CR250 forks / Ohlins shock , hopefully will make it a diffrent bike..
replaced the CR disc with a 320mm .. didn't think the little CR one would
pull up a 170kg XT to well.. hopeing it might stop...
Now just need to find a head light for the screen.. Any ideas on LED lights
    that will pass WOF ?

A Ohlins S46DR1 shock out of Germany was only $692.35 NZ on my door step..
quoted $1300 here for the same shock..

That looks sharp on the XR, it'll be interesting to see how it looks fitted to the XT

You should be able to do some sweet jumps with that lot bolted in :evil

I had a bit of a look around recently when I upgraded the 640 light & didn't see anything Hi/Lo in LED. I'd be inclined to get the cheapest thing that fits in the hole with a std H4 then get a badass LED spot like this alongside it to augment high beam.

    Cheers

I did find one on e-bay... had 3 LEDs , one for low / all 3 for high...
But its a 7" round replacement unit..
If they made a square unit it would be perfect..

Well I need something to ride while the XT is in bits....

06 TTR250.... quite a trick wee bike for a budget Yamaha.
Rear shock has spring pre-load / rebound & compression damping....
Forks have air valves & adjustable pre-load... 6 speed box...
    Elec & kick start...275mm/11" wheel travel...Weight 130kgs fully wet...
Came with a Yamaha GYTR pipe... Has a nice new set of
    Michelin AC10's on it now....

It looks as if it uses the same friction plates as the WR250F... So it
    will get a Rekluse EXP...

PS.... Whats the best way to carry a step ladder on a bike..:rofl

Hey Pete since moving to Christchurch you seem to have developed an affliction for buying blue Yamahas - XT660R, WR250F, TT250R. Has Gerry Brownlee appointed you saviour of the Chch motorcycle industry or is it your midlife crisis? Whatever you must be having fun. :rofl

LOL.. I didn't get the WR in the end.... Thought about it desided the motor was a bit to short lived for what I wanted to use it for...

front end done.... still got to put the Ohlins in the rear
just waiting on swing arm & linkage bearings so I can do
    it all at once...
Have another front wheel..thinking of having a 18" rim laced in to
for seal & gravel.. just a tought at the moment...

That is a real nice looking XT Pete, do you think you have stripped much weight of it so far with the single exhaust and any other mods?

Reason I'm asking is I reckon the 660 might be a great upgrade from my XT250 but the stock XT660 looks a little heavier than it should be with the likes of the heavy twin pipe system. :deal

Other than the pipes it's quite hard to save any real weight..
There's a lot of weight in the motor & the frame could never
    be called under constructed..
they are 165/170kgs in stock trim..
