950 Adventure valve clearance question - What would you do?

First time checking the valves on my 2006 950 since I bought it last year.

Bike has 18K miles on it, not sure of the valve check history.

From my understanding the recommended valve clearances should be:

Intake : .10-.15mm
Exhaust: .25-.30mm

All intake and exhaust on front and rear cylinders are measuring .102mm on the intake and .254mm on the exhausts.

I know this is within spec, but do you guys think I should re-shim the valves to get to the loose end of the recommendations?

It's in-spec. Leave as is, go out and ride.

The shims come in 0.05mm increments. If you re-shim, you will be out of spec.
Yes, you can always grind a shim down to push your clearance more towards the middle of the ideal gap, but I'd leave it alone... It is within spec.

I think that's what I was figuring. Not really wanting to make custom shims.

My exact issue this year. All but the front exhausts were barely in spec on the tight side. Left them alone. I reshimmed just the front exhaust, which was tight.

Shim it to the loose end, even if it's a little loose. It will run much better.

Just an update.

I shimmed the intakes to the loose end of the recommendations, and left the exhaust alone.

Beginning to put the bike back together. Been sitting, apart, since last July.:eek1

I hope I remember where everything goes.

I still have a Facet fuel pump to install, jet kit with remote idle mixture screws, starter torque limiter, and water pump seal and impeller to change out.

Good man - your valves would have been too tight otherwise... Loose is good.

I have a similar question, for a 2006 950:

Front cylinder...

Inlet clearances were .11 and .13 (I'm going leave them alone).
Exhaust clearances are .31 and .32 -- I am very tempted to leave them alone.

Any recommendations?

For the record, Harley V-rod shims come in smaller increments...
