The video is cool. It has lotsa shots of Airheads in it. Of course the heritage of the new is the old. Nice of them to explain it. Still doesn't mean I want a new one.

Machines today run cleaner and make more power. They are also built by other machines more than built by human hands. Tomorrow the machines will drive themselves and they won't need us at all. :lol3

Sorry but I have to be the one that says that video is idiotic.
For being BMW motorrad, they sure get a lot of facts about their old GS' wrong.

I also don't buy into professional riders running a fat pig around dirt like everyone who buys the bike can do that. It doesn't make the bike any less of a pig.

Doesn't seem as though the Wasserkopf is "Simple by Choice" or design!

Apparently they made a water-cooled boxer prototype in the late 80s. Was very powerful. Abandoned it, because the main advantage of a boxer twin is exceptional air cooling and decent balance.

I kinda got lost halfway thru - must have been all the 2 second motion clips joined together - did the bug eyed alien end up eating all the 2-language-speaking-at-one-time-humans ?

I have not seen the new bike in the metal, but from the photos parts of it look especially the rear frame look much better than the earlier bikes, I'm not sure about the mini beaks that cover the radiators.
it looks to be much easier to service, with a clutch that you can get too without splitting the bike in half.
It will be interesting to read the early reviews by the magazines and riders, people who go on theUK off road course report that at the end of the course they are doing things with GSs that they did not think possible.

Laszlo's hpn does look pretty sweet. I definitely paused the video in a few spots to ogle it. I didn't come out of that video wanting a waterhead at all. For me, that video really just validated my choice of ride in that all the guys designing the oilheads and new waterheads, who clearly don't have to pay anywhere close to retail for a brand new state of the art bike, still choose to ride airheads instead. That's cool. If anything that video did more to sell airheads than the new waterhead.

This brought to you by the same people who have a Honda CBX-clone as their current superbike?

Darkside. Definitely gone over to the Darkside.

There was an article about that bike in the latest magazine "BMW Motorräder" from mo-web.de.
    Overall a very interesting bike.
The engine is based on an R65 crank with 97mm bore ...

    +1

I also came away with the impression that they all preferred their airheads

I personally like my bikes not to look like transformer robots- regardless of how many green wristbands you throw at me

WB Looks like a big out of control turd.

It is going to carve a rather large scar as it heads uncontrollably into the bush.

    Just my opinion.

BTW - I just bought a new BMW, called Husqvarna. Nice to know BMW are still making good bikes.

A 450 version of that thing would have plenty of power, and come down under an un-ideal weight.
