Man, I thought you had to be skilled to own one of those orange things. I think he belongs back in the blue team.
In Andy's defence... the video doesnt really show it but the bank was quite sloped towards the bog and very slippery. His left handlebar would have only had to brush one of the many branches poking out causing a little bobble which would set the whole thing in motion. I hate putting a foot out and discovering nothing but air... Glen went around the same side and got the bum of his bike in the bog just before the big tree. I wasnt game to try and came around the other side which while narrorer was much more level It was also near the end of a tiring day and none of us were 'riding gods' by that stage
My comp paused for buffering half way thru the fall. There was def a green slimy hand reaching up from the bog grabbing hold of the front wheel.
yep fair enough. On watching it again you can see he starts to put his foot down and there's nothing there.
Who's riding this weekend? I need a day out. Sprinkling of snow up Takapari today. Not that that's where I want to go. Just saying. Why you might ask. Because I had a fairly average day at work today, and can just see the road snaking along the top of the range from my office window. A welcome distraction from the emails and phone calls. Not that I actually spend a lot of time in my office. I find any excuse I can to be somewhere else, which luckily isn't difficult in a large factory.
Dunno. Cnut, MAD, Shannon dams, Takapari, 'rapa...take yor pick. Anything I can do in a day and be home by dark.
thats a fair bit to do in a day before it gets dark whats the matter - are you scared of the dark?? (DR pussy) if the weather holds could you go on Monday? - maybe for a looksee at Sutherlands Hut and above?
I plan on riding fast Yes weather looks better Sat/Sun, but any day will do. One day for jobs around the house, one for family, and one for riding. I love 3 day weekends.
I'm riding up in the hills on Saturday (you are welcome to join us - we might have another go at the track we rode last weekend) and I will need Sunday to put the klr back together so Monday is my only real option. I'll give you a call on Sunday to see where we are at.
Sorry Mark but I'm now busy on Monday, so will go for a small local ride Sunday. I might head to the coast and do some more photography stuff. As for the riding in the hills, I think I'd need a dedicated dirt bike. Hours of pushing and shoving a DR650 through that snotty shit does not appeal to me. Perhaps if I had something with half the weight, and sharp tyres, and I was a bit fitter.... Edit. plan may have changed yet again. I'll give you a call.
MAD loop Sunday 30th. Any Wellington people keen? I'm trying to sort a start time. Likely to be 10am at the start of the Makairo track (9.30 in Dannevirke). If no one's keen, we may start earlier.
I'm still waiting on parts, so can't be definite. I'd like to say I'd be there but unless they are here by Friday..
Got Gus running acceptably (but still not brilliantly), so will see you at Makairo. The 1st shipment of parts have come in, including some extra needle jets to try. Any Wellington Riders interested, meet at Caltex Rimutakas at 8.30 am to meet Bart at Makairo at 10.00am.
Time to resuscitate this thread, given it had dropped into page 2. Andy Mac & I are heading into Odlins Rd tomorrow (Sunday 24th Nov). Meet at Staglands at 11.00am. Generally a rcky base with a few challenging section thrown in. Bring lunch Steve
