Eakins , quite a few good hotels in OJINAGA for you and family to choose from.
For instance Hotel Armendariz is only 3 blocks west of the central plaza at 713 Calle ZARAGOZA , they have secure parking and a restaurant.
Hotel Valentino's likewise is set for tourism , secure parking , at 1109 Trasviña y Reto it is just south of the street Blv Libre Comercio coming straight from border. I bet if you google them you will find their place on the streets . And there are plenty of other good hotels too.
No reason to avoid the town , certainly more to see than in Presidio, you could even take a few hours tour out onto the 16 to peek down into the canyon and the go back to the border.
PS : I just did the google thing as a test and could not get Valentino's to show , but in the same vicinity they do show Hotel Waru which is also a superduper modern hotel .. Go splurge !

In Chisos Basin hike the Window Trail to sit and stare out the Window for 1/2 hour before hiking back.

Do make the drive to Peguis Canyon as Sjoerd recommended. About 30 miles in from the Border. Can't miss the monument on the left side. It's a nice drive.

Depending on flow a river raft trip can be a good time.

Check out La Kiva in Terlingua. They've been replacing the roof and generally remodeling. Interesting place even if it's not yet open.

When Desert Storm starting taking National Guard folks from Mississippi, most females in that area where I worked and lived that was in the guard, began very actively trying to get pregnant. It did not make any difference if there was a husband or not! :deal

There is always a way! :rofl

PS: My battery is here, it is the correct size and it is getting its initial charge on my trickle charger. :clap

Great ride today....anyone headed S should consider this ride as it is world class and much cooler than the coast. One warning...road resurfacing in the final part of 40D near Durango is all grooved pavement and feels like riding on a flat for 10 miles...

Dont leave Mazatlan with less than a full tank!

The best bike is one you are comfortable with in terms of riding and doing minor maintenance. Beyond that, it depends on how much dirt and off road you want to do.

    wee - 490 lbs
    klr - 432 lbs
