Thought maybe I'd thread together a few rides I have planned...nothing huge, really. Just local jaunts to out of the way places that don't have traffic. Shall we begin?

Me: "Hey Boss. Mind if I bail a little early?"
    Boss: "Nope."
    Me: "Later!"

So I geared up, and endeavored to make it to a new favorite solitary place on Edisto Island, about 50 miles away in time to catch the sunset. Well, I didn't get there as early as I wanted, but still got a few good ones...

^^This gnarly old tree is in a cluster of three in the middle of the salt marsh...I think the Sepia tone treatment makes it look very cool.^^

These last two shots are from any area lake about 70 miles away...I took them a couple days prior. Really liked how the sunlight was 'coloring' the water as it broke against the shore. the last shot is interesting to me...looks almost like a picture of cooled magma from a lava flow or something...

More to come...hope you all enjoy. :D

Cool thread. My dad is working in Charleston, and I've been meaning to take a weekend trip to see him. May have to find some of the places when I do.

Ding Ding Ding... I know you know the Botany Bay, but I didn't even know that the bridge was the Bear Island until I looked at a map just this second.

A shameless ho .... here's one more.

    Simply amazing.

My momma is from coastal carolina, and i remember travelling through the area as a kid. My imagination would picture all kinds of creatures in the moss covered trees.

I must get down there with the KLR next year.

Ha. I recognized the remnants of the old bridege's pilings along the new Bear Island bridge. The Cormarants love perching on those...

As for your last pic...gonna take a stab and say ACE Basin Wildlife preserve, up near the plantation house...

    ALSO:

Don't be shy...If you have some good pics of the Carolina Coast, or any of the really cool outta the way places in the Low Country, POST 'EM UP!! :thumb

Some sunsets, and sunrise (from this a.m)....all in Pimlico, SC, along the Cooper River.

And sunrise along the Cooper River, this a.m. as I headed to work. I am housesitting for a friend who lives in Pimlico, and the views along the river are sweet!

Good guess but not Magnolia. ECR once again has me number.... It's from the Ace Basin. A mostly unspoiled wonderland.

    ACE Basin is fantanstic!

Went full ninja and got REALLY close to this little lady during a previous trip there. I must have watched her for 15 mins...just snapping away. I might have been 30 feet from her...

Oooh. Like that top pic, Jax! :thumb

    On a darker note:

-Big, orange, nearly-full moon rising over Cooper River? Check.
-Just a whisp of clouds in the sky colored by the moonlight? Check.
-Moon light shining on the water? Check?
    -Tripod? Check.
    -Camera? Check.

    -Perfect photo-op? Check.

Dead battery in camera and no charger? Check. :bluduh
