Tag is about 50 ft from where the State Maintained Road ends. Maintained gravel (50 ft). Ok for street tires.

Wow! I've spent a lot of time in central and Tidewater VA and need to come visit again. Maybe I'll ride the Buell from Texas.

Amazing. Your family may have met mine - the Brownings - when they arrived in Jamestown on the Abigail in 1622.

Actually, they missed it. It is my understanding that the Abigail showed up just after the unpleasant event.

In the 1990's I worked as an archaeologist at Monticello and some weekend projects at Jamestown and a few other James River sites. I worked with Dr. Bill Kelso who is still uncovering the original James Fort site.

I read Kelso's report on the Carter's Grove (Martin's Hundred) site which is his doctoral thesis. When I found the Monticello Field School where he was the director I applied right away. I was accepted and worked there in 1990, '92, and 95.

Sorry to bore you with my VA connection, but hey, you asked. :rofl

This is the first I've heard of "Lefty" Gregory, but looked him up and started reading his reports. Thanks.

The road has the same name as this old church. They have been fixing it up as of late.
