I was hoping it would not be there. Anyone know the degree of difficulty of removing the CCM panniers top case to get to the fuel filler? Does anyone think a Giant Loop might be easier?
Doesn't look like it's blocking the fuel filler But the soft luggage they're showing looks like it's blocking it, though. Anyone got detailed pics of this area?
How does it attach? If it's a matter of a couple buckles and flipping it forward, that might not be too bad. Pretty common with tank bags, right?
The bike looks freaking Badass... No other similar offering by any manufacturer even close I can't believe anyone would complain about the fuel filler location... Frikken hilarious without even seeing the thing in person I guess there will always be the naysayer... Some would cry over getting a thousand dollars for free because it's not 2k... I have some bike envy going on now. Kudos CCM!!!!!
Not complaining- just said not ideal. If my bike, I would probably not have luggage there anyway. I'd be riding the piss out of it like my other bikes Definitely nice looking bike and hope to see some good write ups on it. Cheers CCM!!!
Look, the fuel filler cap placement is not ideal for this reason (access) and that, from what I could see standing next to the bike, it will gather dirt and dust if there is no luggage covering it. I think the Katoom 690 has that issue too. Having said that, I rode the Transamerica Trail+ (6000 miles) with a Wolfman tank bag that covered the fuel cap on my DR650. This was not a problem, as Wolfman take care of that with buckles, but even if that was not the case, its still no big deal. You're 100% right on other manufacturers not offering anything close. I think KTM are the closest with their bikes, but all of the parts on the CCM exude quality, the bike looks like a bespoke Dakar racer! I am green too
I hope they offer some kind of extra fuel-tank and a water-reservoir in the nearby future. It would literally turn the bike into a true rally bike
Yes. Rally Bash Guard Container Heavy duty aluminium wrap around bash guard protects the engine in extreme conditions. The front houses 2 litre fluid storage capacity with filler cap and valved outlet. Ref: G4D21C02027 http://www.ccm-motorcycles.com/gp450.asp#.UpXl73i9K0c
Here's how it will be accessed with luggage: <iframe width="853" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/PcOclLXd398?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I like the look of that luggage set-up, would buy that instead of a Giant Loop if it's truly waterproof.
new you tube video out as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9DY1gtmFmU and the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HShyC05wspY
was at the nec yeasterday the finished bike is just great it looks quality from tip to toe the bashplate stoage thing is impressive if not neccasarry but a natural place to store oil for top ups or changes on longer hauls i would think the false exhaust bit is not the finshed thing but a handy space ...maby three litres but the engineering effort and thought thats gone in is great im so pleased for ccm the stand was absaluly buzzing ...the intersest in it was amazing i was there for two hours and all the display bikes were permanatly sat on ,,.i really hope its a runaway success ...to go out on a limb and produce this from such a small firm is staggering ive always belived in the bike ..the first time i saw it with a mock tank i knew they had somthing really out of the ordinary but i honesly didnt thik it would look this good ..it the first time ive seen it finished its just quality with a big Q the one thing that really puzzled me was with the ccm being talked about by guys that like travel and trail riding ..minority kind of niche bikes ...i honestly didnt think they would be so busy ..im sure there were loads of people who had never been intersted in a off road bike before attracted to it all over the stand .?? ..i bet they are over the moon with bikes reception at the show
Would be an interesting job trying to change the front counter shaft sprocket, looks like the side of the frame would have to come off, is that right?
