I am looking for good long dirt or gravel road or trail rides close to Memphis. I want as little slab time as possible with as long a ride as possible. Yeah, I don't ask for much. I already know about the Covington Pike trails. I am looking for something longer and less of a hangout. Also, has anyone done the Trans America Trail through the Memphis area? If the trail is mostly unpaved around here, I would consider buying the trail maps.
I'm not a dirt rider, but you might aim toward Holly Springs National Forest in Mississippi. Many miles of gravel. Or come to one of our "weekly" dinners. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20199676 Jamie
Jamies right, there is a lot of old gravel roads in the HS forest. The Ms TAT is bout half(or little less) paved now, but its still worth havin the map. Do you have a GPS? If not, a Garmin CSX60 is a handy thing to have on your handlebars in a RAM Mount system. GPS and some mapping software(topographic for me) makes dualsporting much more fun/easy. If you wanna come down a lil south of memphis for a ds ride just let me know. Tony
