I hear that it is beautiful in the desert around Feb 25, 26. Anybody interested in a ride/camp/eat on the Eastern side of the Salton Sea?

Due to dire financial outlooks this year I was going to hold off but Pops said "No way, we aren't missing the 5th annual Bradshaw Bombrun!" Who am I to argue with sound logic like that?

So, post up if you are clear to ride on the LAST weekend of Feb.

The good news is we are providing Carne Asada Tacos (or CAT as I like to call it) on Fri evening for anybody present. It's hungry work traveling to the ranch and if you make it there at or around sundown Friday, We got you covered.

The bad news is the rest of your meals are up to you. So bring something you like!

Working on stickers, we will see how that goes...

    Who's in? :norton

What is this ride like? Is it just miles of sand washes, is there some more challenging stuff. Also, is it a loop each day or is it east day one and west back to camp the next day.

I am glad to hear you guys are in, we are looking forward to seeing everybody. And congrats there Grandpa!

As far as the rides go, the original Bombrun follows the historic Bradshaw Trail which was the first overland stage route between Riverside and the goldfields of Southern Arizona. It is an easy 160 mile, out and back with a gas stop at the far end. It has plenty of sandy wash to keep the guys on big bikes awake and sweating but not too much challenge for conventional dirt bike based dual sports though... The real challenge is not letting the terrain draw you into progressively speeding up and then getting slammed in a decreasing radius rocky/sandy blind turn at speed. Many panic skids are left on the road heading into the corner berms!

There are some other shorter rides in the area with some extra credit but this really isn't a hard-core challenge weekend. Although the Freeway Loop has some good stuff to get your attention...

One of my favorite pics, thanks ZenSlug

And what is a riding trip without some benchracing around the smudgy?

We need a guide for the Friday Freeway Loop... any volunteers?

    Got questions? Post em up.

And Scorpian, if you are reading this, I got your shirt I promised you for the artwork. I realized I never got it to you when I ran across it recently. I would be happy to send it with Brent or better yet, show up for the weekend and claim it in person!

This looks like a fun ride, I'm going to have to see if anything conflicts. I would be in for a good Friday and Saturday ride. Camping Friday and Saturday nights.

I'm running Bradshaw on this Sunday 1/15. If my schedule lines up properly, I'll join you and the rest on the Bombrun in Feb.

Thanks for the count, we will see you guys there!

I have ordered up some good weather for this year so maybe no flash floods or downpours but hey, who knows. Wet desert is great too.
