OK, all you Tenere owners post your pics here. Old or new, clean or dirty, stock or modified, lets see them. Lets get started with mine, its a 99 XTZ 660. I brought it as a project bike and now it is almost complete. Mechanicaly the bike was OK, it just needed a tidy up and some new parts like - New paint and decals Tinted screen Higher bars Lower footpegs Hand gaurds Stainless steel exhaust Excel rims (18" rear) Stainless Heavy duty spokes Mini indicator lights Racetech suspension rebuild Swingarm bearings and bushes Tyres Chain and sprockets Brake pads Clutch cable Heaps of elbow grease fixing, cleaning or replacing minor bits and pieces
If yamaha released this bike - today - in the same spec - they'd sell every damn one - for $10k. I'd be first in line at my local (or distant) dealer to get this. Bloody Aussies!
nice one, looks a million times better than mine. I have those barkbusters too, the ego ones. both my levers are a bit bent and I've ordered new ones, not sure if they are going to fit to well inside the barkbusters. How are yours? Ive got some renthal bars on mine and i don't really think they allow much room to slide the controls in towards the headstock. Might have to find a guy who can repair and paint plastic now seeing yours.
I agree 100% Beautiful bikes....good work on the fixup...it looks very nice in white oh...and go ahead and tease us all you want....I'm CERTAIN that we get way more cruiser models than you guys.......gag....retch
Im up for a bit of yank baiting!! Not a 'normal' tenere but one with an extra cylinder!! My ongoing project xtz750
That is really, really lovely. I had the same bike in green. It shook the body work to bits. Great bike. You must be really happy with it. Top Notch.
Not trying to bend this thread sorry.. but what years were the dual headlight models available? thanks,
Clutch will fit no problem, brake lever is a bit longer and will have to be angled down a bit to miss the aluminium bar on the inside of the barkbuster, or just cut a bit off the lever. I repaired my fairings with every day fibre glass and resin ( surfboard repair kit ) and sanded to a smooth finish. The local spraypainter used automotive 2 pak paint and primer.
Yet another reason to hate the decision makers at various Moto Headquarters. But, I sleep soundly knowing that when our economy finnally goes "BOOM", everyone else will be right there with us... JOKE!!!! sort of.
