the design is made by applying a paste of Henna (a herb, known as Mehandi in the Indian sub-continent) into intricate designs on the hand & feet of the ladies. This paste is then allowed to dry and after that oil is applied on the design to deepen the red color. The ink washes off in a few days - weeks depending on the quality of the henna powder. Its an art and highly successfull professionals charge even upto a few hundred dollars for highly sought after designs !!!

Its a tradition as well as a custom all over the sub-continent and also in the middle-east.

praveenkm : yeh man, it was very clear between us as to what importance bikes & riding have in my life... and she has been quite co-operative in that respect. The XS650 is running fine now but i'm selling it off as i hardly get to ride it.
