Magnify the photo and look at the turbo tucked in there.

I wonder how the head studs are holding up?

IMHO a lot more speed & handling could be had for not a lot of money with an SV or Bandit, etc. The classic airhead would still be a classic.

I agree with your statement, but damn...look what someone did.

What a bad ass airhead. They expanded from a simple German designed platform and made a new creature out of it.

How many airheads do you see w/ a turbo?

That guy must be a local, because I've seen that bike there a lot. It is definitely sweet.

    Turbo ?? :huh :ear

Now what could I rob a cheap turbo from ???

Hmmmm, I could modify the new 2-1 header, I'm thinking single carb with a fabricated split intake. What kind of boost pressure ? Need a boost pressure regulator. Waste gate or non waste gate ? Just thinkin'.........

Hell, a blower would be much simpler on a boxer ! Direct belt drive, mounted on top of the tranny !

Thanks a lot Pengy for posting this bike, now my brain is in overdrive !

you could always use a small turbo off a mitsubishi, or a k-car. I think you were kidding but if not, I could tell you what to look for.

Go on...tell him what to look for...I KNOW he is not kidding. That DLrides is crazy enough to do it and by gawd I'd like to see him boost his vintage airhead.

I bet that project was done a long time ago. Didn't Luftmeister make bolt-on turbo kits for airheads? I doubt if many people would do it from scratch today, but what if you came accross a complete example? If you did would you do a partial or "rider" restoration? Would you go stock or keep the turbo?

That bike does put my wheels in motion !

It would be fun to have a 36 yr old bike with a turbo, but it wouild eat some clutches without some serious upgrades. Think of the driveshaft universals that would be twisted !

But fun to think about !

Bikes like this keeps the innovative spirit alive !

    Cool bike, dream over :cry
