Welcome to the Rockies forum! ADVrider Supplemental Rules/Remarks | Adventure Rider

Think of this as a campfire you can stand around and trade stories, organize rides, buy and sell a bike, and chat about life in general, riding in particular, and most anything else that comes up.

We're here to help, because that's what neighbors do. If you want to plan a ride, figure out jetting, borrow gear, or anything else, people here will go out of their way to assist. We've even helped people move. See the thread index in the next post for some of our more active/ informational threads.

Of course there are some rules that go along with all that. In addition to the general rules for the website, we have a few things we'd like to request from you:

    1) We are friends and neighbors. Discussion is what makes the site fun. But we ask that you offer your opinions and rebuttals like you would around a campfire with us all- with good humor and civility. If your approach to discussion is too combative or disrespectful, etc, one of the moderators will ask you to calm down in private. If that doesn't work, we'll warn in public. Then you'll start getting longer and longer vacations. We have no interest in censoring your opinion, but if you start screaming at a campfire we're all standing around in person we'll ask you to leave that, too.

    2) Over time, we've found that politics aren't a good fit for the Rockies forum, the sausage machine of government seems to injure bystanders. But, local politics are an important issue, especially as it relates to land use and trail use, so here are the rules for that.
    - There is a Rockies Regional political thread in CS&M, the advrider political forum. Have at it down there.
    - Informational posts are welcome, like when a congressman is holding a meeting to hear about issues. Commentary belongs in the thread referenced above.
    - Land use posts and discussion are welcome and necessary. We have to work together to keep access to the riding we hold dear. See the Access Issues thread.

    3) We have a Rockies thread for vendors and another for networking. If you own a business and want to invite advriders, please make use of the thread. General SPAM will not be tolerated, and repeated abuse will lead to a ban.

    4) Everything in this forum gets indexed by google daily. Think twice before you post something you don't want to be part of the public record, because people who don't share our love of riding visit this site too.

    5) Moderation is subjective and incomplete. If you see something that doesn't belong for whatever reason, hit the "report this" button in the lower left of the post. Moderators will take a look, we don't promise to do anything but it will help us stay on top of things. It will also help us set the tone for the forum, if you feel like someone is yelling a bit too loud, and many others do as well, we may ask them to pipe down a bit (see the first rule).

Please feel free to reply to this thread to introduce yourself, and here's to the next ride!

And I would like to know some of you folks. I'm old and slow, and some of the ride reports just amaze me. And the weather confounds me, I love the unpredictabilty. I'm tucked up in Castle Rock, I intend to enjoy Colorado ( on two wheels or otherwise (did I just say that)) as much as I can at 58 years old.

I live in Colorado Springs and my bike is a V Stom DL1000. I don't care much for the bar scene but am open to any group rides that are organized in this area.

I've just moved to Western CO and FINALLY have a bit more time on my hands to do some ridin' in this beautiful state. I haven't posted much on ADVRider as I've been both too busy working and riding further west from here. I'm looking forward to taking out both of my bikes (one at a time of course:D) and am looking forward to meeting fellow inmates in the process. I hope to see you out there and will follow here for ride plans that I may attend.

I will be returning to Colorado with GaryGoSt from Utah and staying in Castle Rock from June 28 to July 31. Then I have to return to CA to host my 7th Annual ADV WMRS Ride.

Since I'm still rercovering from open heart surgery, I promised my heart surgeons that I wouldn't"t take my GS off road ( well at least not to rough ) for at least a year, but i am looking forward to seeing as much of CO as possible and meeting as many of you FFER's as I can. You can catch me here, or at stonewall@schat.net, or my cell phone is 661-618-8614

I have been riding two wheeled vehicles since I was in diapers and added motors about 10 years ago with a Shadow and then a Connie that recently sold to get my 00 KLR, which I love. I am in Longmont and new DS and am always looking for folks to ride with.

Thanks Jude. Much appreciated. I can't make it this Sunday for ride, (wife starts back on a week of nights at hospital, and I have to watch kids), but hopefully can meet up the following one if a ride is happening.

Hey - been on my scoot for about four years now - an '07 Tri Bonneville. In the process of getting her more capable of going on long distances and on some less-than-paved roads. Gonna be a long journey to get her there, but a it has started, so onward and upward.

glad to be on the forum - lots of cool stories and advice. Looking to cash in on some of it and hopefully contribute a bit as well.

Hey! My name's Isaac, and I'm from Albuquerque, NM. After a year and a half of riding street bikes, I decided to get into dual sporting. I'm riding a 2001 Suzuki DR650SE, and I'm always on the lookout for weekend riding buddies.
