I honestly have no idea what it is, Rob! I haven't seen it, either.
Guess I should grab a copy. I mean, if I'm gonna be all famous and shit…

Hitting the newsstand this week! Just shipped it off to the printer.

The A'stich catalog shot was actually a bit of a production. My wife got the idea for the shot, and enlisted our neighbor Paul to drive my convertible, and the CityBike staff photographer Bob Stokstad to shoot the picture.

I thought "Yeah, that's all sweet an shit... but...". It turns out the image has legs -- we've had a couple of people contact us to buy prints.

    Hey HWD,

Wow, super-proud of you, my hero! :clap. What fun to race with your son, too ... I'd love to simply do an Enduro someday, let alone 5th place in C-SS, with all the treacherous fast old salts ... :deal

    Hey cxwing,

Sorry I missed you and HWD at Hollister this weekend ... did you see any SFMC jerseys? Hard to miss, they are so ugly ... :lol3

Cary loved the Roadracer_Al catalogue cover, and I'm looking forward to seeing WC in the June CB ... :clap

    see you around the campfire,

he and DaveRMS did ALL the hard-splits on Saturday,
leaving from Stonyford at 5am, riding to Ft Bragg and
returning to the Rodeo Grounds before sunset ...
bad-a** rally racers, they are ... :deal

Sunrise from that 02 route with the water crossing at the bottom,

Yeah the road up to Sheetiron is clear & they removed the dirt pile that blocked the whole road the last time
I was up there. Cool to see its OK/legal to ride up there again. I want to ride the ridge road west from the
peak next time I'm up there. :evil

WHOOOA! Phil & Dave are definitely BAD-ASS ... or CRAZY! :lol3

A friend & I were up in that neck of the woods on Wednesday.

Putting together a last minute ride for this monday. Basically the most dirt mileage in a day ride we can squeeze in. We're missing some more local dirt, but we can do that anytime. For me, the highlight will be Los Burros/Coast Ridge. It's all fire road stuff, but there are some good views high above the coast.

    When: Monday May 26, 2014
    Where: Moss Landing Cafe
    Arrive: 8:30am
    KSU: 9:30am

    Route Description:
    South on 1
Top off tanks in Carmel at Chevron on Rio Rd.
At Bixby Bridge, left on Old Coast Rd.
Back onto 1 at Andrew Molera Park.
Pick up a sandwich and drinks in Big Sur (or bring your own)
Continue south past Nacimiento Fergusson to Gorda
Top off at most expensive gas in America if you have a tiny tank.
Back track 1 mile and head up Los Burros
    Left on Coast Ridge
    Right on Nacimiento Fergusson
We WILL pass through the military base
    - make sure you have license, registration and insurance paperwork in order
    - or you will be shot
    Jolon Road into King City
Gas there if anyone really needs
Out to Metz road to avoid slabbing on 101
Duck onto 101 at Soledad - take that 7 miles to Gonzales.
Zig here, zag there, get on La Gloria
    take that to 25
Left on 25 to Panoche Rd. for about a mile or two
    Left on Browns Valley Rd
Left on Santa Rita and into Hollister and then San Juan Bautista where the ride ends.

    Total Mileage: 243 miles
    Total Dirt: About 51.5

Difficulty level of dirt: Really easy to easy on a Big bike. Ok, there might be a brief spot or two that are almost moderate difficulty (up hill switchbacks with some deep silt - keep your speed up and stay committed and you won't have a problem). Knobbies help, but aren't required. At least last time I rode these roads... it's been a while.

    Route Map:

    DualSportRoute.jpg

Barring too many camera, rest, piss stops (or extra exploration not on route), ride end should be about 7:30pm in SJB.

Route isn't etched in stone. We can shave off stuff if it gets a bit late. I'm not looking to make record time or anything. I never get to ride in this stuff, so I'm going to be taking it easy just to soak in the view. At least some of the time. Those familiar with the are are welcome to ride whatever pace they'd like, shoot ahead, etc. This ride is about enjoying the ride. Wait at turns for the rider behind you. If you ride ahead much, it's best to coordinate a rendezvous pt before you ride off. Please don't ride off alone.

I'm not trucking anything down and the route isn't really very trucking friendly (pun intentional... lol). This is an ADV bike ride. It's suited for a dual sport if it has good range. I haven't figured out the mileage between gas stations, etc (might do that on Sunday), but 150 miles of range is probably good. 120 MIGHT be ok... not sure. The less easy spots will be much easier on a true dual sport and trivial on a plated dirt bike, but other spots of the ride will be unpleasant the smaller the bike is.

The weather looks to be nice. If we're lucky, the coast won't be foggy and the view will be awesome. :evil

    Hey BAARCers,

    Shawn's Funduro is this weekend ... 5/30 - 6/1 ... up at the
Deer Valley campground off Elk Mtn Rd above Middlecreek OHV, Mendocino
National Forest, near Lake Pillsbury ...

Fifty or so of your closest vintage/Moto Melee types on their modern
or not-so-modern dirt and dual-sport bikes ... show-up-or-don't, feed yerself,
few bucks to Shawn for the campsite fees ... easy-peasy! :deal

Pic is from a few years ago at the High Glade watch tower ...

    I'm hopefully off tomorrow, we'll see ...

Anyone else planning on this already? Or going to be riding
Mendo NF this weekend? Would be cool to say "hey" to
    some BAARCers! :ricky

I've been riding for years and always wanted to get off pavement and into the weeds. I finally got a light adv capable bike (g650 xcountry) and am looking for suggestions on some good trips to cut my teeth on. I've just gotten over the break in period on the dual sport tires I put on the g650 but am wondering where I can start breaking my mind in when it comes to riding the rough stuff. I'm located in san francisco and am looking for suggestions of good weekend adventure rides.

I'm going to try to hit Metcalf or carnegie ohv over the next few weeks but was wondering in anyone can PM me with a suggested weekend trip route or to let me know about some good fire roads in the area. I'm pretty new to this but any advice or suggestions would be a big help. I'd say we should take a ride but I should learn more or you'd spend the whole time waiting for me.
