So I turn up in Australia (from CA) full of romantic dreams of on/off road adventures and go and buy a brand new BMW F800GS (Doh!) to live out my Ewan/Charlie fantasies. After a few rides on my shiny new toy I began to realize that there didn't seem to be any decent roads in the vicinity of Sydney NSW. It wasn't helped by the fact that my ass was destroyed after only 60Km of riding the GS....ouch. Anyways, my rectum toughened up and I was able to go a little further afield but still no joy. I was hurting. And it wasn't my ass. I came from some of the most incredible canyon roads in Southern CA to a seemingly void venue. I was distraught and wasn't afraid of expressing my disgust. Some of the guys in work took pity and decided to educate me.
OK - it was still a good hours ride out of Sydney before we hit anything mildly interesting but when we did.....oh my.....

Coming down MacQuarie Pass I decided to turn around and have another go. Something snapped. I went nucking futs. It felt like I could finally get my razor sharp claws on a 4 month itch. Irresponsible? Yes. Gratifying? You have no idea! I don't ride like this all the time but by golly, I had to get it out of my system. Enjoy the ride.

In the US, people see a bike approach and get out of the way. Thank you. In OZ they go out of their way to block you. Not good when you have a bee in your bonnet like I did.

So that's my select - MacQuarie pass, NSW - best biking road I've ridden on so far (with Bouquet Cyn in Santa Clarita, CA coming in close second. Third spot goes to HWY1, CA between San Luis Obispo and Carmel)

Does that trail end up at an old uranium mine? I can't remember the name of the trail that we did in the Jeep several years ago, but it looked kind of like that.

Thanks to MiteyF! I'm really enjoying this thread and especially the WRT pics. I had a great ride in Peru back in April:

Got to ride some nice switchbacks (there is only one road in the picture)...
