Sorry, I didn't mean to be unclear...it just works out that way sometimes. Yeah, due to the fact that I'm shorter/light I can fit sportier bikes for longer trips without suffering. The exception might be (insert Ducati product) a really long reach to the bars. The Tigers ergos were really good for long days in the saddle but wind buffeting generally sucked. The S3's ergos are decidedly sportier, but less wind buffeting leaves me much less tired at the end of the day. (more wind, yes, but its clean air, less turbulence)
I like the last two full size iterations of the Tiger (955i & 1050) they are great bikes, but they give up a lot in the twisties without suspension upgrades. Out of the box I much prefer the 2011 and up Speed Triple for sport touring/commuting/canyon carving over either of the full size Tigers.

Slap on some heated grips, a 12v. supply for a vest and its a pretty capable sport touring rig...though not for everybody. I've done the cross country/loaded panniers/kitchen sink/camping thing and I get it. But I'm more into staying at hotels/friends places, packing suuuuper light and really upping the ride quality on the mountain roads the last few years, instead of packing up everything in the Aerostich catalog.

I'm getting ready to commute home on my 07 Tiger 1050 in 10 minutes, I had to turn that video off because it was filling my head with bad ideas.

I have to say, I was riding in this morning thinking about how I had outgrown "New Bike Fever" because my Tiger fits me just right, runs strong, handles well and I can't see ever selling it. It is just a great all around bike.

However! A Tiger Sport would have me rethinking that pretty damn quick*. What a good looking, great sounding machine.

*Too late, I want one.

Come on Triumph USA, I've owned 4 new Triumphs in the last 14 years, you owe me a shot at one of those beasts!!!!!!

If there was even the slightest chance this was coming Stateside, I'd hold onto my Speed Triple for another year. But I haven't heard one scintilla of evidence that'll happen. Oh well, no Speed Tiger for me.

Someone buy my Speedy so I can go out and buy another Tiger like I had before I guess...

I'm in a similar predicament. Thinking of picking up a Tenere, but since I'm 100% slab, I'd prefer this Tiger. I'd hate to buy the s10 and then find out this tiger is coming here... Maybe I should buy the 07 Tiger 1050 that I saw on cl as a hold me over for a year or two... ... decisions, decisions...

Triumph is losing sales on this bike in the U.S.
I also like it but am not waiting for them to make up their mind on importing it here or not. I had a 2008 ST1050 which I enjoyed, just sold a ZRX1100 and am riding a DR650. I have a KTM SMT on order now, hope it comes in soon ! It may have been a tough decision between the SMT and the sport.

Seems it might be around for longer than i thought.

That's encouraging because this is the bike I need. I liked my 1050 a lot and the Sport is as he says a sweet spot between the Speed Triple and Tiger ranges (neither of which I want).

I love my Multi but as a daily commuter it's wearing me out and i suspect the Sport will give me the big bike performance with a softer edge than the Ducati. Please bring in Stateside, Triumph

Thanks for the link, interesting reading. I like it and something like this would be in the running as a future bike for me. Don't know if there's enough people like me out there to make it happen though.

I know I would definitely find a way to put one of these in my garage, even if it meant selling my blood.
I'm 54, and the article said this bike seems to appeal to guys my age, and I think that is correct. As a solo long distance touring machine, it seems to have a pretty low buy in cost. I could see people going in to a shop to see the Trophy and leaving with one of these instead when the sticker shock sets in. Two up long distance the Trophy would win hands down, but for weekend rides with the missus, this would be just fine. My nearest dealer thinks these would sell like hotcakes in upstate NY, and he and many of his staff would be personally interested in owning one themselves.

I liked the fact that Warburton said the bike doesn't really needs gizmos; and for the target market I'd bet that's true.

In fact, for 90% of street riders I bet that's true.

The ££ price on this is less than many litre sportsbikes; it will steal sales from those imho.

Question: is the 1050 Tiger the only bike that Triumph don't/won't import to the USA?

Let's hope not! I doesn't seem like smart business to invest as much time and money into updating the bike, only to not import it to the US (unless the old Tiger 1050 and Sprint sales numbers were abyssmal). My guess is that they updated the bikes, will work out the kinks close to home (Europe only) and then release it to the US for 2014 in Fall of 2013.

I hope so too.

It would be a shame otherwise, as I thought Triumph exported their whole line.

The Sprint GT wasn't well received, and sports-tourers are on the decline.

The Tiger Sport seems to be the answer, for Sprint/VFR800 type buyers anyway.
