Ah. For some reason, I can't get google to route via 40. Plan on coming back that way, though-

He got a nice early start... the sun must come up pretty early this time of year, that far north. He had fifty miles in before I had breakfast.

130/80 TKC up front = great choice! :thumb On my run up to and around Alaska I ran those front & back on my V. Never heard of the Fullbore tires until now; they look good. Kinda like a Tourance. You'll have to report back on how they handled & mileage as I'm in the market for another V in the near future.

I believe he is on Pacific time now, and yes, the sunlight helps. But yes, Dave is an early riser. Says he can't let a couple perfectly good hours pass him by. Truth be told, I think it is the only good way to put in long mileage days; however I'm not as good at it as Dave.

(edit) Hmm... I think I'm doing the math wrong. 6:40 MST would be 5:40 PST wouldn't it. I guess I'm not sure how Spot is converting the time, it seems to be local time for the person viewing the map. Dave is going to have a long day in today.

His spot shows no side trip to Hyder. Musta not had enough time. Gawd I love that little town. Been there twice and wish I was there right now.

I'm actually using a TKC in the stock size... 120/70/17, and the Full Bore in a 150/70/17. The Full Bore is almost identical with the Shinko 705, but with a higher speed rating.
When I get home, I'm eventually going to raise the front fender, and try a 120/90-17 on the front. Outside diameter will be a nice compromise between a 17" and 19" wheel.

Dave is unbelievable. He'll be in Whitehorse tomorrow. I think he's ahead of schedule. I'm not sure why he didn't take the side trip to Hyder/Stewart. The bike must be running okay-

Near Dease Lake, 775 miles yesterday, rollin'.

Major ongoing work along the Cassier.

That lower stretch of 40 is 80 miles of gravel.

Hmmm....I didn't know they made a 120/70/17; I don't recall that being an option 2 years ago. Good to know though.

Lookin' good Dave; damn I wish I was up there right now. Weather been holding up alright for you?

They added the 120/70 and the 180/55 last year.

In Skagway waiting for the ferry. Came across the mountain in the rain/sleet. Problem at the border.

Did they do the math on your time and mileage between border crossings? :D :ear Or was it the kitchen sink on the back of the bike or the rider's bleary eyed, unshaven face? Or all the above?

Can't wait for the story on this one.

What's Dave doing up on the Dempster with those road tires? :huh
Although, he's probably better at gravel on those Bridgestones than I am on the TKCs-

Bike delivered this afternoon, whew, what a ride, or as i've been known to say "ain't no Starbucks run".

24 hours of airports and planes to get home, heck of a trip.
