I have nothing to add, I just thought I would start a thread where people could get/give the status of the Gates (open or closed) and Roads (anything new) depending on whether they are coming or going.

Actually the last time I rode up Lincoln a few months ago , There was a housing track that was being built and a sign saying trail closed.
I just road around it and it was in-fact not closed.......

    ......................................................................................................................................

Up date they are now finishing that track Eleven YEARS Later...........

This thread is a good idea as it seems that people are always wondering what the status of the gates is.:D

The only way to know the latest on gates is to call the Trabuco District office the day BEFORE yo plan to head up.

I am a patrol volunteer on the CNF, and I can tell you that the website is notorius for being inaccurate...:huh

Can you tell me about the Lincoln entrance.
Is it really closed or is it just the housing developer trying to keep people off the job site?

here's some news from the southern end of the Cleveland National Forest...

Makes me think I need to be carefull riding up there, them thar "Ganja Farmers" can be dangerous to people riding legally near their illegal crops..

I can't and don't smoke, touch or go near the stuff myself but that sounds like allot of weed!

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Federal agents have uprooted more than $20 million worth of pot, in three huge marijuana grows, within San Diego County's Cleveland National Forest.

The Drug Enforcement Administration says more than 7,200 marijuana plants, some up to seven feet tall, were confiscated in last week's raids.

The raids included DEA agents, National Guard troops and U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and San Diego Sheriff's Department investigators.

More than 60 marijuana growing sites and more than 128,000 plants have been discovered so far this year in the San Diego area.

Maple Springs road and the rest of the mountian will be open in November, according to a number of rangers I have spoken to up there in the last month or two. I believe the website also makes reference to this.

You can always hit Ortega and ride about 15 miles of North Main Divide and IT trail for a little fun.

BE sure to stop at Hell's Kitchen for a beer or two on the way out to watch fat Harley guys crash when leaving the parking lot:clap

Don't you think a place called Hell's kitchen would be where you should take your 22 year old wife for your anniversary? Sorry she's 23, I remember now you met her when she was kinda young.

WOW Jim!.........So you are still alive:clap

When can you come out and play again?

    How's the family?

I'm trying to get out all of my communication to you in this post since it's the only time I've had a chance to communicate with you since you fell off the face of the planet.

When you have time and you can do the only thing that is truly important, that being riding, give me a call.

Anyone notice that Google Maps doesn't show any of the trails out there any more? :huh

Strange stuff. If I had a tinfoil hat I'd be screaming "Conspiracy!" and painting my bikes flat black.

    Thanks

Don't worry the trails are still there. :D

I rode Indian Truck Trail this afternoon. The gates are open at the bottom of Indian Truck trail and main divide. I did not go by EL Cariso. It was hot out there. Did not see a single person or vehicle once I got past the residences. Kinda nice. Next time I think I'll do it in the morning.

    They were, Ben.

Why they are no longer shown is a mystery to me.

Someone, somewhere got Google to edit their map.

    :dunno

    Thanks
    CA Stu

PS They are not shown on Mapquest either... Better go buy some paper maps to archive, I guess.
