My son-in-law is from Perth.Daughter married him there and worked in Australia for 3 years. My son and I vacationed with them in the same areas your RR has covered so far. Australia has the natural beauty they much of the rest of the world has sacrificed to development. Safe travels and keep the pictures coming please.

Enjoying so far and loving your English, looks like you are heading east first? Wise choice avoiding the heat up north, are you planning on a full circle of Australia Dominik?

What an adventure you are starting, and thanks for sharing. Only way it could be better was if I was there seeing all the sites, too. Maybe one day soon I can get down there to see them for myself, till then I will be enjoying your report.

    Hello Dominik.
I have bin in Australia in 2011 and 2012,and want to go back next year, taking my bike with me again, like I did last time.
I have a few questions for you.
    1) the price is 1900 € one way,but do your already know, when you fly back, and did you already get your ticket for your return flight?
    2) Wat was the weight of your bike?
    3) Was was the name of the Airline ho flew your bike to Perth?
    4) were did you left your crate?
I keep following your trip,I did Melbourne,Adelaide,Darwin, Broome,Perth,Nullarbor,Adelaide,Bourke,Townsville,Bisbane,Sydney, and back to Melbourne in 2011 and 2012,30.000 km in 4 months.,on a Harley. It,s a BIG country, but you will find out how BIG.
Keep sending us more stories and pictures.
    Thanks.

    Hello Hoots.
I did that in 2005 bought a BMW R 80,went from Sydney to Perth, and back with the Indian Pacific train, from Perth to Adelaide,45 hours on a train, without sleep, and to Brisbane, and back to Sydney. Than you have to sell the bike again, and if the buyer knows that you have to catch a plane, they lowered the price.(I did get a good price for the R 80,at Motohansa, after the trip.) If you have friends(or enough time) to resell the bike, than it,s no problem. OK,bringing your own bike cost a lot of money, but you know that bike, and you get used to it.So next time I bring my own bike with me again.
    Thanks.
    Chris.

I wouldn't recommend anyone travel from Sydney to Perth and back again to buy a bike ...

Unsure why the Adelaide leg ...

That is all a bit crazy ...

Basically equivalent to travelling right across the US or Europe a couple of times, with significantly fewer comforts ...

Just buy a bike in whatever city you land in - new or used - registration is a lot simpler - setup is a doddle unless participating in a serious rally - the bikes and aftermarket accessories are identical worldwide ...

Resale may be an issue, but you'd take far less of a loss with a quick sale than the cost of bike transport - and far less hassle ...

Inevitably you'd make some friends here, or know people already - most would be more than happy to sell a bike for you ...

Websites like this will unearth people in the destination country (Australia in this case) who can advise you on suitable bikes for the different sorts of trips ...

No I have no clue where it will be
I had a limit of 300kg this was included in the volume
The bike itself may have been 230kg + 30kg for the crate
    Emirates
I disposed it into a bin at the airport
