I head out in 2 days (Sat 5/3)! :clap
This trip will begin in Oakland, CA with my Dad and run minor highways thru Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. Sometime around 5/19, my Dad and I will split off. He will be going on with his completion of the lower 48. I will head North out of Santa Fe area and head for Ogallala or North Platte, Nebraska, riding thru Colorado to get there.

Once in NE, I will meet up with a good buddy of mine and we will be making a fast slab run down I80 with a destination of Susanville, CA. There we will meet up with 8-10 of our clubmates and have a nice Memorial Weekend camping with good friends. From there its headed back to civilization and jobs on 5/27.

    Itinerary:
    5/3 Yosemite NP
    5/4 Sequoia NP
    5/5 Greenhorn State Park
    5/6 Death Valley NP
    5/7-8 Henderson, NV(2nights)

    5/10 Bryce Canyon NP, Utah
5/11 N Rim Grand Canyon, Arizona

    5/14 Sedona AZ
    5/15 Springerville AZ
    5/16 Chinle AZ

We got a late start yesterday due to some pesky fender bolts hitting the tire on days bike. Shorter bolts and more preload fixed that! We only made Groveland from Oakland, but found a nice almost vacant campground! Today we road thru Yosemite then headed south thru Fresno and made it into Kings Canyon and now eating beef stew with a New Castle!

Awesome! I was beginning to wonder if anyone cared! We just pulled into a vacant but open campground next to Lake Isabella! Good riding day!
Route 155 has tons of sand spots in the middle of the road, made it pretty sketchy!

See you might have a little extra time on your schedule around Ogallala, might want to go north through Arthur, catch HWY 2 west through the sandhills. Or, if heading west on 80, stop by Cabela's in Sidney.

    Safe travels

Today was an adventurous day, started with a rain storm. My ipod set on shuffle decided I neededda lil encouragement that all would be well and played Amon Amarth's "With Odin on our side"!
Stopped at my usual spot in Olancha for gas, lunch and jerky! I left a couple stickers behind at the jerky shop!
Then we continued on down 190 with a brief stop at Father Crowley Vista, hoping to see the jets do there fly thrus in the canyon below! Its a beautiful sight when you catch them!
We continued on after a bit and got hit by a sleet storm for about 20mins at the summit of the last mtn range before dropping into Death Valley. Nothing we could do but slow down and carry on, since the tallest cover was 2 foot tall shrubs! By the time we got into the actual valley the air temp climbed and we were dried off! Pulled into Furnace Creek Campground, which was unmanned and grabbed the same spot that our club had stayed in back during the '11 Noobs Rally. I wanted that spot cause I knew there was tree cover we could set out tents under for wind protection!
Both of us were too tired after setting camp and had been eating budget wise, so we splurged on Burgers at the 49er Cafe! I also took that opportunity to sneak in a shower since it had been a couple days!
Now its time for some sleep!
Tomorrow we head for Henderson to wash some clothes at a friends house! I'll likely snap a couple lics and post them of the old triumph that she rides and keeps in her living room!

    Darn!

You guys passed by me yesterday in Pahrump, by the time I got turned around, you vanished. Probably best, I would have just wasted your time quizzing you about the trip...I'll just read it here.

The bikes are head turners, beautifully done!

Enjoy the road, and each others time.

He says thanks! Definitely do it!

Darn! That would have been cool!
We did meet up with a dude in DV named Tracy, not sure if hes on here or not. But talked with him for a bit and I think I saved him from trying to run Titus Cayon solo an hour before sunset on his new R12GS! That would have been a bad idea!

Been holed up at a friends place in Henderson, waiting for a delivery. Finally came today, back on the road in the morn! Altho, we have modified our stops and completely deleted Bryce Canyon from the list, due to expected snow!

    Hi guys:wave

    Pahrump dude again, aka Sam.

You've got some great riding in and around Vegas that maybe you could catch on your way out. Red Rock Canyon on the west side is 13 miles of great views. North Shore Rd along Lake Mead is great too, that will lead you thru Valley of Fire then you could hop back onto 15. You heading out to the dam? Walking up to the bypass bridge is well worth the time.

    Loving the thread! :lurk
