Hi guys, I have a R1200GSA and I am getting used to its height but it is still quite tough to ride in the traffic. I tried to sit on new R1200GS LC and it was very comfortable. I realized that it was because of shape of the seat. So I am looking for narrow seat to ride daily in the city and it seems like Touratech Sport low seat is very narrow. What do you think is the narrowest seat and is there anything you would like to recommend? Thank you
Check out the Saddlemen adv tour or track. It is narrow- about like stock, but very firm and supportive unlike the squishy stock seat. I feel connected to the bike and that makes for a more fun ride. Seems to be a great match for the versatility of this bike. Have had mine for over 7k miles. Long break in period but it will conform to your butt. Standard height is about same height as my stock GSA seat. Best overall seat I have tried. fyi- will have opportunity to try out the track version next week for comparison. Also tried the Touratech LDC High. Too soft, went back to the saddlemen. For some reason, my butt cramps up more on softer seats. Warning, I did try the low version of the Saddlemen last year and found it was too firm for me, besides being too low. 6'3 and 34" inseam.
I ride a GS (std height), bought it with a BMW low seat. I could only manage 200-300 miles before the pain started. Bought a Sargent low seat and it has been awesome. Couple of years ago got a good deal on a used extra low Kahedo (they make the Touratech and Wunderlich seats). It is narrower than the Sargent in the front and it does make it easier to reach the ground and it is a little lower than the Sargent. Tried for it for about 2000 miles but didn't find it very comfortable and went back to the Sargent. Sold the Kahedo for what I paid for it.
Kahedo is available from Touratech and Wunderlich. Mostly good reports. Sargent seats not yet available for the WC GS nor the WC GSA. Don't know about Saddleman, but I doubt it is available. Don't do Russell. It will raise you at least an inch.
I have the Kahedo standard height sport seat on my LC, and it's narrower than the stock seat, so easier to touch the ground.
Thanks for the tip! Is Kahedo japanese brand? Sounds like it. I really like the designe of normal GS Adventure seat but want it to be little narrower.
