I just picked up an '82 R100 and, being short of leg, cannot get the stand down when I am on the bike. I've had 3 other airheads but it's been awhile so I don't remember how much of a problem it was on the other bikes. I have quite a bit of work to do on this one and the side stand will be one of the first.

I also need a good muffler for the left side, push tube seals, oil pan gasket and all the typical old airhead fixes. It is sure fun to ride.

Overall the bike seems pretty solid so it will be worth investing time in.

Last night's add - a sidestand in reach of my 30" leg.

This is a new version of Carl's flyingpot with a slight mod done to ground pad (newly round I think?) Perfect .

Received a Farley sidestand yesterday. Heavy duty and it seems to have less of a lean angle. Mounts to the rear engine stud, front hole can be mounted same as the Browns with the header clamp or he will supply a 2 piece clamp that goes around the frame, I just used a longer bolt because of the off set from the foot peg. The mounting bracket has a notch ground out to allow for the shifter to move freely. Also supplied a longer engine stud if the stock was too short. Good guy to deal with. 145 shipped. I'll get some photos up tomorrow.

A Migsel sidestand on my R80 G/S with an Ice Hockey Puck on to stabilise it.

About 200 Euro's, so not the cheapest but excellent!

+1 for Carl's stand: http://www.flyingtpot.com/sidestands.htm

Plus he's a heck of a guy. Just sent me a replacement nut no muss no fuss!

But the real thing is I love the side stand. It works!
