:lurk I wonder if the choppers have been able to see what's going on? I'm assuming somebody has......for us to get a report of them being off track.

That's the function of the WPM and WPS- you recognize that you should be arriving at one by mileage, when it does not pop you know you've gone wrong.

Then, when you do find your way eventually, you can get your odo and roadbook re-sync'd using the WP.

The leaders are really good at spidy-sensing when they are off, I think, by the fact that dangers don't match, and there's usually dangers nearly every KM. That Spidy-sense is what Kurt will be lacking from a lack of miles on roadbooks.

Interesting to see what penalty they give him for missing 7.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, GO LYNDON! PYN it to the rest day!

I just threw 5 euro at Misc as an offering to the rallye gods to open 10.

Are they physically at 10, or watching the tracking like we are?

If it's not just a data issue, an no one is physically at 10 yet, this stage is FUBAR'd.

ASO is watching them via the Iritrack trackers, so they know EXACTLY where each rider is all the time.

Question regarding the condition of the course:

Do the ASO have an "out" rider pre run each day & report on the conditions?

Helder Rodrigues started today in 11º overall, 31:32 minutes from the leader. He's 13º at WP9, with a 02:21 disadvantage to the fastest rider. How can he appear in the overall classification at 17º place with 47:39 disadvantage? Did he received any penalty!?!?!?

By the way.... here are some pictures with the sexy side of Dakar. Eheh. http://www.autoportal.iol.pt/desport...-do-dakar-2013

You can just go off, cook dinner, eat it, watch the first half hour of a movie, come back, and the trackerlist is still the same.

I know, I just did it.

If the choppers are grounded, the stage is off re:medical.

I thought they basically did it the day before? Would probably be at least 12-18 hours between starting the pre-run and the opening of the course?

Overall timing is scrambled at the moment, probably because of the shortened stage + neutralized zone.
