The road from Creel to Guachochi and Parral is one of the most impressive ones that I have ridden in Mexico. The views are amazing and so is the road itself, thousands of turns

In Parral we went to the Hotel Acosta, half a block from the Zocalo and with safe parking






We went right away to the old silver mine, hoping to get there before they close, and we got there just on time to get a guided tour

…and we were ready to go down , 85 meters underground






Nobody was worried, everybody was relaxed






After seeing this, Luisa finally agrees that the outhouses in some of the primitive campgrounds up north, are not so bad after all





By the time we got out of the mine, it was time for dinner and beer

If you decide that our outhouses are so nice that you want to turn around and head back north, way north, you two are welcome to use our outhouse anytime!

From Parral we went to Durango where I had a urgently needed back tire waiting for me,

We left Parral early, nice cool weather






After getting my tire changed , we went to dinner with Stephen , SR, and his lovely family

The following day we just walked around Durango, we took a ride on the cablecar

It's our third day in Zacatecas, even if yesterday does not really count...at least for me . I must have eaten something wrong the day before so I spent yesterday staying pretty close to the bathroom, in my room

We are staying at the Posada de Los Condes, a well located hotel with indoor (lobby) parking.
The local inmate ficoszac found us this place

This was our parking in the hotel where we met a german rider ,Mekongfrank, on his RTW for I don't remeber how many years. So the parking lot was pretty packed

Ok, ok, I know, you are retired and having fun so what's a "timeline".
I'll rephrase the question, what's you destination line looking like?

Like you said, still no idea... and pretty happy this way
We just arrived in Morelia an hour ago.
Would you prefer meeting in Puebla or in Oaxaca ? Both places are on our "no route"

Not sure on either destino.
I've got contractors, fumigators, painters, and relatives coming.
Not sure in which order either!
Puebla sounds intriguing and mole, pozole, and other oles sound inviting.
We could meet for breakfast, it's light at near 6am these days.

I probably had my expectations for Zacatecas way to high ; it's a beautiful city , but in my opinion not as beautiful as other cities in the area , Morelia, Queretaro, Guanajuato . What I found kind of disturbing , was the lack of pedestrian areas . There are lots of cars anywhere and anytime,way too many and most of them trying to oversound the next car with its soundystem . Anyway, that's the way I saw and felt it , but nevertheless we enjoyed our stay there and I managed to find the beauty and interesting spots of the city without being overrun by a car

Food everywhere, and it was good food






The carnitas in this place were spectacular.






People demonstrating for ever or on never ending strikes are part of almost every city in Mexico, looks almost like it is a nationwide well organized enterprise






I liked the Indio Alegre better, but this sign got my attention and got me thinking : Why would you put the word triste (sad) in your business name ? ?

Hi Julio, that's classic Shawn, no escaping the keen observations of a lawman.
Interesting bet, we'll see how it works out. I think the only challenge Shawn has
left for Mexico riding is to do the Baja 1000 on a moped in a bathing suit during
a holiday weekend.
His lack of Pemex pee breaks makes me think he might be some sort of intelligent
life form from another planet, not to mention his work schedule!

Haha. Baja on a moped.....sounds like fun!! Maybe I won't run our of gas like I did last week.

Mike it sounds like you need a break from all of your troubles. Get those taken care of and hit the road!
Julio it looks like Creel was definitely a better destination from reading your opinion on Zacatecas. Somehow I've been very lucky with my trips. Meeting some of the greatest people in the world like you, Luisa and Mike. Then the scenery in those places. And the luck of meeting three amigos who got me gas.
