Rashnak, glad you survived it. Arguing about it being your "fault for being in his blindspot..." sheesh! The nerve of some folk.
Like somebody else said - hope you're still feeling well. Sometimes these things take time to show themselves...

I've resisted the Steibel-airhorn-for-ktm-950 mod due it's obnoxiousness but maybe I need to reconsider.

I take that on-ramp frequently, and actually saw you yesterday. I came by on a blue Wee-Strom as you were walking back across the street. I had been stuck at a light for quite awhile and could see that there had been an accident.

I was very glad to get closer and see that you were okay.

    Glad it wasn't worse.

One thing I avoid like the plague is being in a blind spot - bad place to be on the highway.

Also a good reminder to all - practice emergency braking. Vital in these situations to maintain control.

I called his insurance company and they had me give a recorded statement. She asked me if I braked and I said yes. Then she asked me if I swerved and I said no, you can't emergency brake AND swerve at the same time on a motorcycle... she was skeptical ... lol. If I had swerved I would have gone down an embankment, better to emergency brake.

And yeah, I need to practice emergency braking. I had a little too much rear brake. I know logically to put more up front but somehow I keep locking up the rear brake in these panic stops. I need to unlearn that instinct.

I saw you come by and waved at ya! :clap

I was a little sore this morning but feel fine now.

It's tough - too much is bad, but not letting up some as the weight shifts will cause the same thing. I probably don't practice enough/hard enough - I'd guess many don't.

    Glad your ok.
It's unfortunate that using the hov bypass at these metered on ramps put's you in and out of the stacked up cars blind spots. I go thru it every morning at the Edmonds south bound on ramp.
I'll be sure to pay a little more attention tomorrow.

Needless to say, you are real sore and you deserve a brand new bike and a check for 5k for the owies you sustained and the hassle of it all. That's what I would want out the deal, nothing less either, next time that idiot may kill some one and it might be me .

Teach him to look next time by hitting him hard threw higher insurance rates.

Good to hear it was not "badder"

Get a new helmet, Shoei and all of them say to after any bump. If his insurance company says no, make them put that in a letter addressing only that, you will get a new helmet.

I love it, the insurance lady's angle is "well, you didn't do enough to avoid this".

Glad, you are okay, ride on.

Why are you calling the other persons insurance company?

In these cases I deal only with my insurance company.

I pay them to deal with the other people's insurance company.

You should not be posting anything in on open forum about you needing to practice the skills needed to (possibly) avoid or prevent an accident, the other persons fault or not.

Good luck and I am glad to hear you're ok.

I work at the UW and hit the 45th st ramp daily, I hate the way it feeds into an exit only lane (north bound), glad your ok and glad to hear the Wee is a nice tough bike since I'm getting ready to sell my Sprint and get me a Wee:D

Also gotta wonder why your insurance company had you call the other guys insurance? My brother had Gieco MC insurance and when he got hit, he's fine but isn't riding anymore, they jerked him around despite the WSP ticketing the other driver.

This kind of crap really bothers the $hit out of me.

People that do not want to take responsablilty for their actions IMO are of a sub standard species. It sounds like that persons parents failed to instill any values.

Why do so many people think it is someone elses fault when they screw up?

And BTW, glad to hear you are ok, your bike isn't damaged too bad, and the asshat will be forced to take responsability.

WE all need practice. I have finally accepted the fact that I will error and in emergencies the consequences are dire. Thus I have gone to ABS bikes and twice they as saved my flaky ass. They do not cure bad riding but help with good. So with the adjuster offers you a new bike :D Tell her you need a new V-Strom with ABS. . .They have silver wheels! :clap

Glad your OK. Stay that way.

And yeah, I need to practice emergency braking. I had a little too much rear brake. I know logically to put more up front but somehow I keep locking up the rear brake in these panic stops. I need to unlearn that instinct.
