Since the immature lot likes to make the ST "big thread" all about their need for attention rather than stay on topic, we'll try another thread that does stay on topic - at least until they traipse over here to muck this one up.

Has anyone done a PC-8 install on a 2014/2015 ES model and if so, where did you mount it?

Speaking of this forum, I have found myself recently absolutely smitten with this motorcycle. I've been wanting to trade my BMW GTL for a dual sport/adventure bike for a while now. At one time I thought it was going to be the new GS but after I studied the options, the ST seems to be a fantastic alternative. I haven't ridden one yet but sitting on a 2014 non ES the other day brought a big grin to my face. This bike just seems to fit me like no other.

Pouring over ADVrider postings/threads about the ST has led me to attempt to register on this forum yamahasupertenere.com of which I followed the instructions to send an email to the administrator to be verified before I could use the forum. Maybe I'm just impatient but I haven't received any communication.

Looking forward to a lot of expert advice, thanks.

Several people have complained recently about the slow acceptance process.
Give it a few days and you will be allowed to join. Lots of ex BMW owners in the
Tenere crowd. Always room for one more.:D

The site owner was out of town for a bit, the approvals should be quicker now.

Go for the ES, not that much more $ and totally worth it.

Does anybody know if the tank ring is the same on a 2013 as it is on a 2015? I have an SW Motech tank bag and need a ring. Wherever I look to buy one, they don't specify the newer model.

You mention on the other "immature" thread that "I specifically asked about the ES models (yes this makes a difference)..."

    And I was just curious...

Seriously, how can it make a difference?

The Eastern Beaver PC8 hooks up to the battery and then simply needs a key-on hot wire to trip the relay... Just like it works on any other motorcycle. What makes the 2014 ES-model S-10 any different? :dunno

I'm not razzing you or anything. I'm seriously curious as to how it can be any different in this application to mount a PC8.

And on a further note, Mr Vvrroomm gracious provided you with a wonderful link showing a picture step-by-step of PC8 mounting on a 2014 ES here:

And yes, Spaggy... The fuel cap ring on the 2014-2015 Super Tenere is identical to the 2011-2013 models worldwide.

I'm narrowing my new bike choices down. Going to look at a Tenere Tuesday. What's a fair price before taxes on a '15 ES? I see prices all over the map.
Other bike in the running is an F800 GSA.

@Dallara, I answered in the other thread ;)

@Harpoonalt - I haven't tracked '15 prices but with the 14's a big factor was location and I've seen several posts where a lot of dealers aren't even going to order any to have in stock which is a shame. It seems like parts of the midwest and NW had the better pricing in general. Maybe someone in the know can give you the dealer cost so you have some idea how much wiggle room there is.

I have to drive 50 miles to even see one. Local dealer hasn't had one since 2012. I've seen exactly one on the road since they have come out. One dealer offered a '15 ES for a little over 15 grand, but you had to order it. He still has a '13 for 10 grand. He didn't know how to pronounce Tenere either. :huh

I was quoted $15090 and believe that's MSRP. Won't be much wiggle room on a 2015, any left-overs would be the ones to deal on.
    Locally a basically new-used 2012 with 5K miles was under 9K.

That is MSRP on the standard. MSRP on the ES is $16,190.

    I mounted mine on right side near top of side cover. Plenty of room for it and wiring. Might be different with ES depending on where they added all the electronics for it. If I recall most of it went under your seat. Here is what I added for electrical;

    PC8
    Constant 12vdc:
    * BMW receptacle on HDB top clamp
    * SAE lead to connect to tank bag

    Switched:
    * On/off/on Toggle switch on HDB top clamp which operates garage door opener (AS7)
    * Skene LED controller (bike on lights at 10%, toggle at 50%, highbeam at 100%
    * BMW receptacle on left upper panel
    * BMW receptacle for drivers heated clothing mounted subframe left lower leg
    * BMW receptacle for passenger heated clothing mounted subframe left lower leg
    * High/off/low switch mounted left dash for heated seats

    OEM PLUGS:
AUX lights: VisionX Halo LED lights mounted using PIAA brackets
Heated Handgrips: OEM but mounted the controller on left side lower leg
