Piaggio Fly 150

Hi Folks,

I might have a chance to pick up a Fly 150. Any thoughts? (I searched. Didn't really find anything) What is the relationship between Vespa and Piaggio?

Piaggio owns Vespa as well as Aprilia, Gilera, Moto Guzzi, and Derbi. The Piaggio Fly 150 is a decent scooter. It is made in their China factory.

Thanks. Is a 2007 with 4500 miles worth $750? That seems like a good deal. Am I missing something?.

I would recommend the Fly 150. Some time back, I had a chance to get a good deal on a new "scratch and dent" model from a local dealer. It looks like a solid scoot, and says Piaggio on it, so even though it is made in China, it is not your typical CCS (cheap Chinese scooter) I had a lot of other things going on at the time and didn't get it. Now I wish I had.

EDIT: It's STILL there. I may go down Tuesday and pick it up. The price is the total OTD price, and it has a full warranty. It would solve my problem of needing a freeway legal scooter.

For $750 you can't go wrong, and its by far the cheapest way to get a Vespa 150 powered scooter.

FYI, I weight 215#s and my Dad's will top out around 58mph at sea level with me on it.

Hmm. I'm currently at 227 (but on a diet) and my Zuma 125 tops out at the same speed. Yet the 150 is freeway legal, and the 125 is not.

Expect the performance to be about the same on the Fly 150 as on
the Zuma, maybe just a bit more torque, and don't expect build
quality to be comparable to the Zuma, even if it's still a good scoot.

At that price it's a steal.

What model year? The new Flys are getting very good review while some of the older ones see to be more problem prone than their Vespa equivalents with the same motor.

I wouldn't blame it on any specific model year since all 150s are the same.
Vespa is built to a higher standard, and not in China anyways.

The Piaggio Fly 150 is built in China....

And besides Italy, Vespa has factories in Vietnam and India.

And like every one else with many parts sourced from China.

The new Fly 150 has a different body and motor than the older one which is why I asked.
