What do you value in a Dual Sport Motorcycle???

Hello riders,

My name is Jake and I am currently doing a research report on what people value in Dual Sport Motorcycles and how that lead them to their purchasing decision. The report requires me to gather quantitative data from surveys, so below are a several question that you can answer on a scale of 1 to 5. I have some qualitative questions as well that are more open ended. I am also a rider, but my experience with bikes can only go so far, so I would really appreciate your feedback regarding the questions below.

How would you change current dual sport bikes? I'd make them all lighter (through better materials, better designs, etc).

What features sold you to the bike? The possibility of ignoring most pavement hazards (potholes, speedbumps, curbs, etc) and the fact that nothing breakes in a low speed fall (you just pick it up, readjust the mirrors and continue on your merry way).

I would make a kickstarter, 3 gallon tanks and 6 speed transmissions mandatory.

How would you change current dual sport bikes?
I would keep my current one for now as I am happy with it, know how to do most of the jobs on it and have it set up well for what I use it for. I am currently looking at a small capacity dirt/long distance trials bike for the more focussed dirt riding. I've ridden lots of other dual sport bikes, but nothing does everything quite so well as my F8: Other bikes excel in one area, but nothing is as good all around.
EDIT: I misunderstood the question; my above answer was to "What would lead me to change my current dual sport bike". My answer to the original question is as follows:
Simpler maintenance; a real focus on being able to do everything at the side of the road and using common, standardised parts and fasteners wherever possible.
More ground clearance; this IMO is the main weakness of most DS bikes compared to their dirt-oriented rivals, not the much-maligned heavier weight.

What features sold you to the bike?
How quickly I felt at home on it. Even on my test ride on one, I was filtering as aggressively as I was on my previous bike that I had done 50K miles on. Never before, or since, have I felt so at ease with a bike so quickly.
