What are your top 3 add-ons to make your bike more suited for you? My riding style gravitates towards touring so I would 1) put on a more comfortable seat. The R1200GS stock seat is much more comfortable than my last bike's, a Ninja 650R, but I got a Corbin seat for that which made a world of difference, might do one for the GS. 2) Then I think I would put on a pair of highway bars to stretch out. 3) After that I'm hoping I would have enough saved to buy a GPS unit and mount.

    Yours?

    2. corbin seat
    3. bar backs (Rox)

I can put my legs on the heads and don't need highway pegs. Can put feet there too. Only side effect is hearing the high pitched hum of the valve train when my legs lay across them.

    In order of importance;

    1) Russell Day Long saddle (because I'm touring oriented too)

    2) GIVI Airflow windscreen (because I'm touring oriented too)

    3) Micatech Luggage (....)

I've only had my bike for a bit over two weeks, but in the 1100 miles so far, I've added the following...

    1. Handguards - because your hands are exposed as it's still fairly cold here so they keep the wind off.

    2. Jesse Safari luggage - self explanitory. They are awesome, by the way.

    3. 65 watt Osram headlight bulbs, because my stockers sucked and seeing is a luxury I really like at night.

My next purchase is likely going to be a better seat, as seems to be the trend looking at others mods. No matter what position I put the stock seat it, my ass really starts hurting after about 1.5 hours in the saddle. More so than even my last CBR, which says a lot about the stock seats suckiness.

Then I'll also be purchasing a new windshield shortly as well, as the stocker causes lots of buffeting and noise for me.

    Russell Day Long Touring Saddle.
    Pivot Pegs.
Aluminum panniers of some make - I prefer top loading like the stock Adventure bags or Jesse Luggage.
Depending on wether you have a pillion or not - I prefer a dry bag (Ortlieb) over a top box.
Rear mud guard to protect the rear shock from debris - Machineart Moto has 'em.
    GPS and GPS mount.

Good luck and welcome to the asylum.

    1. All the quality SAFETY equipment (helmet, jacket, pants, boots, gloves) you can afford.
    2.
    3.

    The remaining 2 and 3 don't matter if you don't do #1.

+1 on this. Get the gear for your safety comfort is overrated when your dead:wink: if you really want to be uncomfortable lay her down with no protective gear on. Owwwwwwie. But this is just me. That said I do have a russel seat, Jesse bags, and pivot pegs on mine. The gear came first, and don't underestimate the value of good boots.

I second the GIVI Airflow windscreen....It's the most under-appreciated, best value product available for the 1200GS in my opinion. I freakin' love mine. It just plain works, works, and works some more.

GSA seat for better knee angle.
3M tape on most forward facing surfaces and back of 'tank' bodywork.

Maybe a throttle lever (not a lock).

    Gasoline.
