F800GS - show us your lights

Hi,
we were thinking mounting aux lights on the little one.
Perfect location could be on the blinker mounts.
Anyone mounted lights already ?
Where ? How ?
Show us your babe, please.

I run heated gear so saving power with the measely 400w alternator was of prime importance for the lighting.
Here is my setup-each Handguard contains one luxeon K2 LED driven @ 700ma with a regulated driver

nice triangle with the stock lights. nice cause they turn with the steering

Where did you buy the LED's ?? Regulated driver ?? How are they wired ??

Here is all the info you need to put together the conspicuity LEDs-
The simple wiring diagrams are on the data sheets below.
I wired them into the canbus plug (under the faux tank) so they turn on automatically and turn off 30 seconds after the key is turned off.

Edit -Oh yea You get 3 snap on lenses with the light engines(LEDs) (a spot , a Flood & an oblong beam) I chose the oblong lens and rotated it until I had the traingular pattern, then siliconed it to the Light engine, to seal it and to be sure it wouldnt pop off.

You are a genius. Trying to decide which handguards to go with and after seeing this I may just go back to thinking OEM as opposed to TT or Barkbuster...
I see you put the spoilers on both top and bottom.. I always thought they weren't voluminous enough, but with two spoilers... hmmmm.... notice any better wind protection with them? I know the BMW's with just one spoiler are pretty panned for their lack of wind protection, so does this solve that in any way OR if I want both lever AND wind protection should I look elsewhere?

Also, would those lights work with handguards that lack a relatively flat front angle? (like TT that rake back).

I am now- very happy with the wind protection as my thumbs were hanging out without the bottom spoilers. The OEM handguard backbones seem so strong I am not even buying spare levers (~$80 bux each ) I will keep my little
visegrip handy just in case.

I would recommend using the wunderlich handle bar adjusters to easily adjust the Bars, handguards,lights, levers, mirrors and gps when going from street position to off road (standing).
the wunderlich adjusters can be seen here on the bar clamps (cheap too)


The LED light engines need to be relatively level but can be adjusted by rotating them with the oblong lens. your could also mount the LEDS eslehere on the bike. Dialight also has multi LED engines :eek1 check there website

I think your idea of mounting lights in the handle bar protectors is a great idea. One question...are they waterproof?

I made a mount for my Aux lights from a cooking pan that I bought at Ross. I mounted the Trail Tech 2" 16 watt HID lamp to work with the high beam. I have the beams angled to high and outside so that I have some light in twisties. I can't seem to attach photos. The inventness of this idea is pretty good. I know they're slaved to the high beam but there will be times when your turn signals will be invisible (washed out) to folks who are in front of you.

I just finished installing a set of Touratech halogens. I don't have a picture site, so I cannot show them. I am very pleased with the result and the functionality. Plus that they look great on the bike.

TIP: The Touratech instructions advise to pick up the lighting relay drive by cutting into the cable harness which feeds the front headlight. I did not like this idea at all. I picked up the relay drive from the red/green wire which feeds the auxilliary socket next to the ignition key. Very clean, and you have couple of minutes of lighting delay when you switch off the bike. This is handy for getting into the garage when you get home etc. BTW, this wire is very accessible and you don't compromise the integrity of the cable harness.

Are you talking about their halogen fog lights that are something like 428 per pair? They look good.. Their xenon looks like it'd be nice but HOLY expensive, 570 per light!!...

I keep on buying stuff for a bike that isn't made yet let alone delivered. (delivery of my F800GS sometime this spring) I have been looking at the Touratech lights and feel compelled to buy them. Did you go with two fog lights, or one fog light and one HID light? Are they worth the high price? I agree that they do look really cool on the bike but I am having a hard time justifying the cost.

The Touratech HIDs are just Hella Micro DE xenons. They can be had for ~$400 for a pair on Ebay. I've got a set on my Monster that I use in a custom headlight set up I made. Bright is an understatement.... I've had people flash their lights me when I had both on in broad daylight.
