    Hey Squiggy,
How do you like that 650 V-Strom after 20,000 miles? Any good/bad points that you care to offer? My father and I are seriously considering one (each), and on paper/in magazines they look fantastic. How do they do in the real world?

    Thanks,
    George

I've decided on a DL650 as my next bike. Just need to get my old street bike moved out first. Hopefully by June I will join the ranks of the few, the proud, the Wee.

Have only sat on the DL at this point, but I've done some miles on a buddies SV650. I really liked that bike and loved the motor, but it was just too damn little to ride far on.

Yep, mine's gone to the Northlands (Mich). Guy recognized a good deal and drove down here to snag it, didn't try to beat me up on the price either. After 7,000 miles on mine I'll agree with the Squigmeister - great all-around bike, plenty of power, handles well, good brakes, smooth, reliable, great gas mileage (on regular not premium).
I just decided I wanted another single, Steverino's DR650 suits me fine. Also, I wanted to do more dirt and didn't want to beat up the Strom, it was in really great shape. I don't usually do a lot of distance, my typical ride is 40-70 miles of backroads/dirt then home. Did about forty miles of dirt yesterday after I got it registered, didn't have to worry about dropping it and wiping out a lot of fairing parts, cheaper insurance, etc. Mostly, I just like trying different things - I've had a K100RS, 2 R100RT's, a KLR, a VTEC Interceptor, an 1100GS and the Strom in the last 3 1/2 years. (I think a Buell CityX might be cool to go with the DR...).
Anyway, if you're reading this and thinking about a weeStrom - go get one. Just don't try to keep up with Squiggy.
