i know that i'll probably get flamed for this, but what is the appeal of riding 2-up? i've never done it, so i have no point of reference. it has just always seemed to me that riding your own ride would be much more appealing. but, when in a car, i hate not being in the driver's seat. so maybe that has something to do with it as well.

    With ATGATT: not much.

    Without ATGATT;
On a cool night with a hot lady sidled up tight behind you, and her nipples poking you in the back.....

    Well think about it :thumb

Some of us use our motorcycles as primary transportation. That means that sometimes we need to take our kid somewhere. Further, my daughter likes riding on the motorcycle.

Well, my wife likes to look at / take pictures of the scenery...listen to mp3's...and adjust our route to her points of interest.

Generals don't drive, just instruct :)

I get to have someone to share the ride, and a backrest...

my old lady got a bike a few years ago. she crashed it monday, tuesday, and friday while taking instruction from the MSF master instructor, and then it sat in the garage for 14 months before she sold it.

so it would seem that some are not cut out for 1 up.

    What's the appeal of 2-up?

-You get to share an adventure!
-You get someone to cuddle with in the sleeping bag at night
-The passenger can be on the lookout for the turn, the motel, the restaurant, the gas station, while you negotiate the traffic.
-If things start going to shit, one of you can maintain the quiet voice of reason and calm.
-If you don't have room for all of the dessert, you can share it.
-You can relax in the shade while the passenger goes from motel to motel to get the best deal. :D

Everyone's different. My wife loves to ride pillion. For one thing, she's a clutz and really doesn't drive or even ride a bike well. She's a lousy candidate for a motorcycle and I'm happier to have her on mine than her own bike. She also likes to be close to me, and hold on. For her, it's a way we spend time together, close and happy. She likes being back there, I like having her on the bike and we have a great time riding 2-up.

Plus, it saves us money. 1 bike, 1 tank of gas, 1 insurance payment.

I don't really care what other riders prefer, as long as she and I like the arrangement that's the fun of it.

Because some people LIKE riding bitch? (taking pics, navigating, etc.)

Because it's half the price of taking the car or two bikes?

Because some of us don't have control issues?

A little more body heat on cold days?

Because a fatty on the back can make 6th gear wheelies easier?:lol3

Well, I haven't ridden pillion, nor have I had a pillion, but I'd imagine such things as sharing good times with someone, who may not be so into riding, but still enjoy the experience.
