Ok people. October 11th, 2014 (2nd Saturday in October).

Start and end in Harrodsburg, KY.

If you've not participated in one of the Pioneer rides, here's the basic things you might want to know. It is FREE. Typically we do about 4 hours. Roads without a stripe are preferred and ones without a name are most precious. Sometimes gravel is included, sometimes not. Free food after the ride has always been included.

There will be no lead rider and no trailing rider. Sometime before the ride, the route will be available in electronic format to load into a suitable GPS receiver. There has always been enough riders show up who with the appropriate equipment who are willing to lead a small group. Average group size is about 5.

We've had the whole gamut of bikes and riders participate but is optimized for the interests of adventure touring and dual sport riders. Your Cow Glide or Plastic Wing may be capable but they might not be the best choice. Whatever you ride though, you and it are welcome to join us.

The route will consist of roads that are shown to be public roads by various map sources. The condition of the road surface and other hazards that may be present are not in my control. This is a bunch of riders getting together to ride. You will have to decide if you and your vehicle are capable of traversing the road in front of you and exactly how you should do so if you choose to. Watching others safely succeed ahead of you does not guarantee you will do the same. Other riders at the event may have greater or lesser skill than yourself and they may provide increased risk to you during the ride.

Expect a little gravel, possibly a little dirt and a wet spot or two.

I think I'm going to be able to make this. Is there anywhere to camp near the ride start?

My family has a back yard 5-10 minutes from Lee's (I think that's where it starts, right?). You can most likely throw up a tent there and take the very fun back roads up to Harrodsburg.

There's a campground about 15 minutes north of the start location:www.cumminsferry.com

There's also a field behind our shop you are welcome to camp in but there's no facilities of any kind. If you take advantage of that, let me know so the local police don't bother you. They are very good at keep an eye on our place.

Anybody from Louisville going to group up and ride to Harrodsburg? If so I'd like to join in. Just where and at what time.

I am planning to ride down from Louisville. I don't ride a dual sport bike (yet) but hope to go down and ride any routes that are blacktop and maybe some short stretches of gravel. No creeks on my Shadow.:eek1 None of my normal riding buddies (coworkers) want to make the trip.

I would be open to meeting Saturday morning with anyone who wanted to ride down together. I am in Middletown and planned on heading out Shelbyville Rd. to get there and avoid the interstate. Anyone want to meet somewhere here in Middletown?
