Time to get away from it all...

Planning has begun. I wanted to make our initial post early so the folks who want to attend can plan the time off. :deal

    Where:
The Dinosaur Run is a ride that takes place in Northwest Colorado around Dinosaur National Monument.
It dips into Utah as well. This area is one of Colorado's best kept secrets and is about as far from anywhere as you can get.

    What:
When I designed the ride years ago, I specifically went seeking fun for my KTM950 - i.e. this is a big bike friendly ride. DR650s, KLRs, BMW GS, KTM 690, etc - this is a ride for you. Others have ridden it on bikes as small as 250s; and any bike is welcome, but do not expect any gnarly single track (although we do ride some fun big bike friendly single track :evil ). The ride is 90+% dirt. Dirt tires are recommended (although some have done it without).

    Big bike friendly single track:

This is an EGO FREE ride! :freaky

If you are worried about going faster than anyone else, this is not the ride for you.

This ride is about enjoying the scenery, enjoying friendships, and enjoying each day. We are not in a hurry and everyone rides at their own pace. You can go as fast as you want or as slow as you want - we will be sure you are with a Team of riders who are looking to do the same. We have plenty of time each day to get to where we need to be.

    Stopping and enjoying the flowers:

    When:
    May 30, 31, & June 1st. 2014.

    How:
The ride will be organized in this message thread.
There will be full GPX tracks distributed before the ride.
We will break up into teams of 5-7 riders with similar riding styles and interests. Some of these teams are already formed and tend to carry from year to year, other teams are made up at the launch. If you don't know anyone; don't sweat it... by the end of the ride you will have lots of new friends and we will make sure you have a team to enjoy the ride with.
    :freaky

What teams are for (no person left behind!):

    Notes:

Departure is from Craig, Colorado on Friday morning. Most of us camp Thursday night at the departure site (which is an ADV'er back'40 acres - Norm's house).

This year there will be a small ride fee that is due to be paid before the ride to make things easy (details to follow).
It will be used to provide a porta-potty at Thursday night's campsite (Norm's field) and it will be used to cover expenses for Saturday night's meal.
It will be RSVP so that we have an accurate head count for the caterers and can figure out how much to charge to cover expenses.
Last year we had 40'ish riders.

I have *already sent in* the reservation and payment for the Group Campsite at Echo Park - so I will not have to sweet talk the host this year. :rofl

Come on out and get about as far as you can get from anywhere with us :ricky

I will be staying behind this year because Colten is graduating Saturday. We may try to catch all of you as you exit the Bench Road Sunday. BUT, I will still cook up some burgers and such for all of you Thursday night. I also am willing do do some coffee, eggs, bacon and tortillas for breakfast if there is an interest. I will have some ice and a cooler for your beverages also.
So as the time gets closer I will put up a burger thread.

I'd really, REALLY like to go on this ride. Dinosaur National Monument is one of the most beautiful areas I've been to and has great 4x4ing. But, I'm participating in the 2014 RMAR Quien Sabe Ride, Utah, May 18-24: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=940121. Perhaps I could head North from Mexican Hat when I'm finished and try to meet you guys.
