Could ride over to Antelope Lake/Taylorsville for grins from there.

That's some pretty country. Too bad all I had with me was a shitty camera.

I grew up in the Chester area but moved before I got my drivers license. Then went into the Navy for over 20 years. Just moved back to the area and looking forward to do all sorts of backcountry stuff. Wish I still had my 950 though. But I really like my S10.

I'm leaving tomorrow for a few days of riding. That's one of the places I'd like to hit on the way.

Camping areas that would work well for a group of us
Would you feel it's has the fun level we need for most bike types, GS, F800, 9xx, and smaller?

Basically your general opinion for a weekend of riding, have a few, the camp NAzi's are kinda nice. Oh and we don't want to offend our RV neighbors....too mucj

I'm heading up to that area tomorrow morning for couple nights of camping . Bucks lake one night and Antelope another. Riding a CRF250L all bagged up for camping .

Plan is to eat lunch in Quincy and then head up on back roads to Antelope Lake and find a camp spot ,should be there by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Looking forward to meeting you DeepSea.

Just walked in the door.

Grabbing a beer and then going thru my pictures to see if there are any that came out worth a crap

Here's what I found this morning.

Camping:
$23 to $25 per night. That's 2 vehicles and 6 people max. Having never camped there I don't know how strict they are about it.

I believe this is campsite #20 in the photo.




Fuel and food.

There is a store at the lake within walking distance of the camp sites. The hours are limited and it was closed so I don't know what kind of selection there is. The building looked like a 20' construction job site office trailer.


Greenville to Antelope lake is aprox 33 miles.
There are two gas stations. A full grocery store and places to eat (the hours have changed quite a bit throughout the years).

Quincy is the county seat and is aprox 44 miles away.
There are much more choices and a cycle shop on the main drag.

Janesville is closer (aprox 21 miles). It 95% dirt all the way to highway 395. I haven't taken that route in a few years. Last time I did, there was lots of cattle and slowed down our progress.

Genesse Valley is aprox 16 miles away.

They have a sandwich shop (maybe more but it's been a while) that is open on the weekends.

Taylorsville is aprox 23 miles away. They have a small general store, a post office, a salon (in case you need to get your hair done) and a bar. Yes that is all of downtown. Almost captured in this one pic.
