Ok this has been tossed around a little bit in the Tassie thread.

Thinking about organizing a ride/gathering down our way for the march long weekend next year.
This has been the traditional time for Tas-Rally in the past.
Since that Rally (at the moment) no longer exists , thought it would be a good time to get you Northern Island lot down for a visit.

Early March is usually the most settled time of the year in Tassie (usually:D ).

Have started this thread to gauge interest and to see what people would like to do while they are here.
Can certainly set out some rides that can be Super highway to Goat track , or anything in-between.:evil

Also open to places to hold this gathering.

    My suggestions so far are,

Griffin park (subject to logging at the time).
Hundreds of kilometers of dirt roads and tracks and a great place to camp next to the South Esk river.

Bay of Fires , just up the coast from St Helens , on the East coast of Tassie.
Still in the vicinity of lots of tracks and dirt roads , and a magic spot on the East coast.

The other place that comes to mind is the Weldborough Pub.
About 45 k north of St Helens.
Good camping out the back , counter meals , BEER on tap of corse , and still in the right place for some sensational riding.:clap

That my suggestions , will throw it open to all now , feel free to suggest away , see what we can come up with. :deal

Hmmmmm, this is about the time i plan to start my round Aussie trip, and i've been tossing up starting in Tassie. Unfortunately i'll be on a road bike, so my preferences are gonna be anywhere thats accessible by tar.

Weldborough Hotel has some of the best Tar seal road in Australia , literally running right past it's front door.

The other 2 places I mentioned , have only about 10 ks of good dirt roads to access them via main roads.

None of them would be a prob on a road bike. :D
