Hey, howdy and welcome, always room for another. So your odometer works?! Mine had failed before I clapped eyes on it, so total miles are anyone's guess. The whole gang rotates varibly every 100 miles or so. Sometimes it's a 2K mile youngster, other times a 8K veteran... das macht nicht. Gears mate
so when you get one, why not register it here, and tell us a little about it .. Oh, and we like pictures too
Hi everyone! Picked up a 84 (10/83) R80ST from a buddy this weekend. Bike has only about 17K miles on it and seems to be a strong runner. Living in NYC, i wanted something a little lighter and less bent over than my R1100S. Always have dug the airheads, went cross country on a 84 R100 a few years back. As a 25 year old bike, i got a few things to fix up on it. Getting a YSS shock next week and need to make the front forks a little less bouncy, the potholes and stop and go here make good suspension a necessity. Gonna do push rod seals and a few other rubber bits over the next month or so. Probably gonna throw some more street oriented rubber on it as the Avons on the bike now are showing their age a bit.
i think it's the MZ366, not sure, i'm heading over there next Wed to pick it up, put it on and get a few setup tips (and maybe some front fork help too)
Yep, that's the one I'm running too. Here's a side by side with the comparable wilbers model (YSS w/ black coil):
Not being familiar with the MX-366, I just googled and went to the website.... got a chuckle out of their "mono" and "stereo" description of shock applications... Always lookin' for more info, so Thanks!
I mostly commute, had a chance this weekend to get out of town Houston to San Antonio and back, mostly back roads. A Texas history tour: San Antonio -Seguin - Monthalia - Cost -Gonzales- Moulton- Oakland -Sheridan -Rock Island -Eagle Lake-Simonton -Fulshear -Houston
........ Was testing to see who would look. I hope that was the reason it developed a loss of power at high rpms 50 miles from home on the way back. When I started having a problem over 55 or 60 in top gear I stopped and checked the right plug, it was textbook nice grey color no real deposits, so I just motored on in at 60 or below. when I got home I checked the left plug, as you see. It ran great up through the gears no misses but no power on the top. What's the consensus? Other than that a perfect trip. I saw rain to the left, rain to the right, rode over wet roads, but didn't get rained on.
Bought two ST's one year apart to find that they both had follow up frame numbers. Both were sent to HPN in Germany to have the frames converted into HPN GS's.
any pics? VIN numbers? After last weekend any way to reduce weight has all my attention (no diet suggestions please)
