Since I am doing more long distance motorcycle trips, I wanted to create a spreadsheet for planning the estimated expenses of each journey before they happen. I looked at a few different online trip planning spreadsheets, and settled on using WQFTruckster's version that he originally shared HERE. I used his fine work, and expanded on it for what I wanted to track. I've modified it to fit my needs and am offering it here to anybody else that wants it. It's not the prettiest, and I'm still tinkering with it from time to time, but here it is if anybody wants to play with it as well.

If you tinker with it and make it tons better with more options and want somebody to host it, feel free to send me a PM and I'll be glad to host your version as well.

It is in US dollars; simply change it to whatever monetary scale you wish to use. And since most people don't read everything in an Excel sheet, the password is "adv" (no quotes) if you want to modify it. Change the numbers in the default sheet to whatever you want and have at it.

Merry Christmas. Happy Easter. Gobble Gobble. Whatever pleases you. :D

I was playing around with this tonight and now my wife has a better idea of how much it costs me to travel around. :lol3 Luckily she understands that it's part of the cost to keep me sane! :clap

    Thanks for the share!

    Great tool.

Lets you see just how much you need to save in order to make the trip really happen.

    Thanks!

Nice idea! But is the calculation for cell E39 correct?
My suggestion is (open office format): if(D10<>1;(E35+E37)*D11+(E36+E38)*D12;(E35+E37)*D11)

I'm not sure even that is necessary. The food expenses area is written as "per bike", not "per rider". In that case, it should be just a simple SUM. If it was written up as per rider, then the IF<>1, etc comes into play.

    Awesome tool!!
Just used it to plan a trip across Canada........the final numbers were shocking and just what I needed to see to make it real......now I really have to start saving if I want it to happen.
Thanks for putting this out there, sure made it easy

Thanks a lot for making this, its put a real money number in my head for my trip in June. And the number I had in my head must was unrealistic.

Warning: I edited it with libre office, and it's 1 a.m. and I haven't used excel or any calc app in years ... so it might be totally wrong/off :p

Not only a great planning tool, but nice for making calculations on a trip after the fact... for those of us that aren't the best planners!!

Cool. I have always liked spreadsheet tools. Way back in the day my trip planning tools were 10x10 grid paper and colored pencils. :D
    This is way better. :thumb

Since I am still new to this, I will be using this to figure out what trips cost for the next couple, then I can actually start planning properly. Thank you for putting this together!

Giving this a bump since I see a lot of "how much does it cost" and "what budget did you have" postings lately. So, for those planning their upcoming riding trips, have at it. :D
